?

I have friend she just turned 18 and is 120lbs. And is 6'1 is that too tall for a fashion model?

She's not on MM but I'm asking here because I know there are a lot of industry proffesionals around here.

If she's fantabulous then she's 5'11".

There are exceptions for people who are awesome, just like there are exceptions for models who are 5'7".

Gna is 6'1" and signed with a big agency. I'm guessing she'd rather be 5'11" though. (which her agency says\said she is)

My cousin is 6'1. She's gorgeous. There's no doubt in my mind she could model.

If your friend is gorgeous/different, granted she can walk and pose and is driven to do it, there's no doubt in my mind she could model, too.

Yes she is very exotic. She just came to the united states from Puerto Rico. There's no such thing as fashion modeling in PR. Me and her were talking about it that maybe she should try it out. But we were wondering if it could be too tall.  She has fantabulous legs that's for sure I'm jealous.

It is technically too tall, but it's worth trying if she wants to.

Bad move.  There are good agencies near you.  Ask them.

If you still don't get the answer you want, send your friend to New York City to some open calls.

At the end of all that you will have an answer that actually means something.

6'1 is pushing it but if she has the face she'll be perfect.. anything above 6'1 is a kill. the main reason agencies are so strict on sizes is that for such things as runway all the items are of the same size, so any girl who cant fit them wont get job.

I am 6.1 and i did fine, but when i was actually working i felt i had to compensate by being very skinny to have small hips which is hard when youre tall. Plus my inseam is 34inches long, which is the norm for legs of a model who is 5.9, so I was lucky that way.

I know several fashion models who are that tall. Your friend shouldn't let that stop her. Like people already have stated, go ask an actual agency. smile

I'm 6'1 but have big hips. My agencies never complained about my height, but they did about my hips.

Conclusion; if the rest of the sizes are good she can model.

She should try it out.  And also remember, leg models make good money too!!!

You definitely have the skills to help her start her portfolio off!

If she wants to model, have her go around to some agencies and find out firsthand.

she is very tall, just like trying to get a 5 foot 5 inch model signed it is not unheard of but very hard to do. The thing is, she isn't going to work outside a major market, so you should be sending her to NYC to see if she can get signed.

+1  QFT

Boston and/or NYC

height is only one major variable...
dress size and having an editorial face also is in the mix...
