Do they still have that feature that automatically censors the word Model Mayhem in the forum and PM?

Only you can ever know that answer.  What is good for one may not be good for another.  Its free...try it.  Personally, I create a profile on nearly all the free ones...and yes, the cat is there as well.

To the best of my knowledge that "feature" was limited to the genius' at OMP.

I like it. As far as a networking site, no other modeling site has the traffic that this one has. Actually, nothing else is anywhere close. So, besides this one, there is "all of the others". Each of the "others" has a certain number of members that aren't on here. So, to reach them, and network with them, you have to go where they are.

Also, many of the "others" are free...so I'm sure you'd get your money's worth. If however, they aren't free, then you have to decide where to spend your money. You may choose to make that decision the same way an advertiser would if he wanted to advertise his business on one of the model/photographer sites.

A wise businessman would try to determine which sites are most popular, which have the most hits, page views, unique viewers, etc. http://Alexa.Com is a company that monitors all that, and assembles all the data so advertisers can make a wise informed decision.

From the free Alexa website, you can compare different sites and look at all the data.

Nope.  That was originally in use at MB.

(Originally as in "when MB started," not as in "they did it first."  OMP did corner that market.)

Heard of it, joined about 6 months ago, found that there weren't very many models in my area on that site.  And the relative few that were, weren't very active.  Did find one awesome model there, but she has since migrated here anyway.

I just checked. I typed "model mayhem" in chat, in a forum, and in a PM and they all worked fine without censorship. They don't seem to be as paranoid as that "other" Florida based firm, when it comes to competition.

I said "originally."
It was disabled.  At one point there were threads about it in their site-related forum, they may still be there.

That isn't true. There are many, many models, MUA's and photographers on MB who are located in Canada.

I think they were wise to change it. Not only do people dislike censorship, they don't look favorably upon businesses that stick their head in sand and pretend they are the only one in existence. All that really achieves is sand in the eyes to further impair vision.

Im a member of Model Brigade, as mentioned it has some nice features. It's still in its early stages so the membership is low, but I am sure it will get more members all the time. I remember when MM first started, it was in the same boat, now look at it.

not really,  Model Mayhem's growth was rapid and immediate.  I couldn't believe how it blew up so fast.

Though the censoring of Model Mayhem no longer exists in forum or chat yoyu can not post a link to your MM port on your main page. Funny the mods there have links to model brigade on their MM pages ;-). I am a charter member and for that I have 500 photo slots. That is why I keep it just for a protfolio

Wouldn't it be interesting if you typed Model Mayhem and it showed up as scary

But I digress.  I have a MB account and an account on one other site just in case they do take off.  It would be way kewl to have a low MM number.  I'm frankly not expecting either site to match MM's size and utility.

Dozens of members can't be wrong.

Which speaks volumes as far as lack of confidence in themselves.
