Thats the one. The more I look, the more interesting it becomes. I had heard of them before, but never actually looked at the website until I saw a models profile saying she would shoot a set.

So I went and looked.  It tells me photographers must be getting desperate. Further research shows me just how desperate.  I was reading in a mag last night how Getty is cranking up their game for  super low prices on images for web only.

Just went to the zivity website, as I am interested in learning more about their service, and came across their FAQ section. I see that they are "escort" friendly, and recommend that you ..." Never do anything that makes you uncomfortable. If you do go to a shoot, consider bringing a friend. That should *always* be ok with the photographer."

Here is an honest question - what is the appeal of this site for a subscriber?
Most websites have a free "preview" section that gives a potential subscriber a taste of what they have to offer. I clicked on the "Editors Choice" and saw a headshot of a girl in halloween makeup. Hardly something that would attract the average male to join and pay a monthly subscription fee.
If the subscription-only photos are nudes - wouldnt they (or shouldnt they) give a preview of the quality of the nudes? There are dozens of nude websites ( I dont know this from personal knowledge - only hearsay smile ) that offer free photos and I am confused as what would make someone subscribe to this site. Then, if I am a paying member and get to vote - what is my incentive to vote at all? Do I get more votes if I participate, or access to more and better photos ? Thanks

Wow!  After reading all of this thread and doing some research on my own, I must say that Zivity looks to be a pay-to-view site where they make most of the money, the model makes some money, and the photographer makes very little.  It also appears that some of the legal wording is suspect for the photographers.

I'm sure many models on MM will be happy to participate, but for me, as a photographer, I won't be selling myself so quickly.

It appears to be a great business model for Zivity and I wish I had thought of it (and had the backing to do the start-up), but they are asking the photographers to provide the content and hope for 1$ votes, and release their rights (or something along that line - will take a team of lawyers to really know the truth).

No thanks.

I'm currently setting up shoots on the weekend's for upload to zivity, and hopefully will get something that met-art will like as well.

I'm paying an upfront fee, based on how much they want to reveal, just in case the  shoot is a total disaster, or it never gets any votes.

this way everyone is happy at the end of the shoot,  and I get to play with "green screen" extraction, and backround replacement,  without dealing with models who are unhappy over a lack of votes later on

I am a model on Zivity.com. I have read through all of these posts and just wanted to let some of the Photogs know that it can be very lucrative if you have enough sets. Yes, when you first start it takes some time due to the waiting process but the site holds contests regularly and you can get your set uploaded over night if it fits the contest criterias. No Zivity is not for the photographer who is hoping to make thousands off of one image or an entire set, the site is more about Art. About being able to create something and not worry about the backlash because it is not "socially correct". As a nude model I am constantly dealing with people not being able to handle the fact that I am comfortable in my own skin. I LOVE Zivity because no one questions me... That is hard to find...I guess all I am trying to say is that even though Zivity may not be your cup of tea, it is for a shit ton of other people and maybe you should stop being so close minded. You can't have an awesome site like this and not have something to complain about right??

{{Zivity does not buy copyrights they buy usage that is non compete for 90 days only.

After 90 day the photographer can sell the image to anyone anywhere they want.}}

If you don't agree with it FINE dont shoot for Zivity.com, just know alot of other photographers D O.

That is all.

Oh hey...Zivity.com is ALSO now teamed with wait for it.... PLAYBOY.COM... If you want to see the kind of work my photographer and I do check out our newest set and if you would like a free trial membership email me on here I can give you one!!

I think it may also have something to do with the fact that the model is showing her naked body on the internet and the photographer...well...isn't.

Call me crazy, but I think that is worth a higher percentage of the profit.

Yeah, I've heard that argument before when models demand to get paid for work they solicit for their portfolios. I've also heard the reason of "I am going to get a haircut and a manicure for this shoot so I'm spending money here." Not to put too fine a point on it but both arguments ring hollow when I look at $30,000 worth of lighting and camera gear that I use for shoots not to mention 20+ years of experience. I've got a pile of shoots sitting here waiting for the variable split "feature" to appear…

You don't have to have a single naked set on there. For the longest time I only had one set and it was non-nude. I just had a nude set go live (http://www.zivity.com/models/MissMercy/photosets/2) . It can make a decent amount of money but the way I look at it is for most people it's a place like MM that throws some pizza money at you every once in a while. Which is nice.

Y'all need a lawyer if you have these kind of concerns.  And they ARE valid concerns.  Signature Publishers (and I'm the owner, an attorney for my "real" job) does not generally give or sell copyrights.  We are open to selling or granting non-exclusive use rights, but anything further would require some serious consideration.  But . . . then again . . . as the lady said about Marilyn Monroe . . . how bad to you need the money????
