Usually all you find there is crap of the crappiest kind. Once in a while though it's good for shopping for odd props. I've gotten some cool roman pedestals there once, some antique soda and beer bottles, and much more. I actually think I got my 6-packs of Billy Beer, MASH Beer, and Rock & Roll Beer there too.

What day do you normally go?
Edit: Do I win anything I just noticed I did the 10,000 post. LOL

Sin City Burgers is OK.

Ali Baba, I've never heard of.

Buzz BBQ I have not personally tried but I know two friends who said that they wouldn't feed their food to their dogs.

Sin City Burgers is OK.

Ali Baba, Is one of my favorite restaurants. However, I've been to Lebanon, love the culture, speak Lebanese dialect, it's quite authentic - good Kebab

Buzz BBQ - One of those "what the fuck was I thinking?" places.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will cross Buzz and Sin off the list and put Ali on the need to check out later.

So, fellow hotelroom shooters. My boudoir season is starting... I'd like input for some versatility. I have made agreements with a few hotels (boudoir doesn't get published, so they care less about shooting there... I can somewhat "guarantee" half a dozen booked rooms per season per hotel) so it's kinda win-win... just wondering if there's anyone I should add to the list.

I like to offer a few options. I charge "$X + room" so they can get awesome images in a nice room, or awesome in a better room... most opt for midrange

Sub $100 I tend to like Plaza a LOT... since they stole the decor from Fontaine Bleu, it's fantastic. Other similar downtown after their facelifts look nice, TheD, etc

$150 - Rumor deluxe

$250 - Scarlet Suite at Golden Nugget is amazing.

Above that I have a few choice places at the big names, like Bellagio and such, but the specialty suites at smaller places tend to be more awesome, like the Spa Suite at GN.

So.... anywhere I should look into for christmas/VDay rush? I've got a meeting with Circus Circus this week (their new decorated tower might be a nice addition to my budget option.)

I would like to see something in the trailer park in NLV on north Lamb. That would be awesome and budget minded.

Oh dear god... I was in that area last week with a tracheostomy patient of mine... Walnut and Cheyenne (the neighborhood I grew up in)

I don't want to add: "is your Hobo-Stab insurance up to date?" to my contracts.

So I guess I need to do a legit casting for a video project. Damn people not following simple instructions.

So... I should be renting out a studio, lecture hall, event center... Something with enough room for this... Then I though why not see if we can make it more lively?

I'll book the place... If anyone else needs space for something like this... Casting or some such, or even just a get together, we can get some wings, chips, kinda like Roxy's get togethers, but more "do what the hell you want" bring lights and shoot, drink too much if your name starts with an A.. Or a J... tongue

would anyone else be up for it? I'd supply the venue, someone else can bring chips.

I might be interested in setting up a single station for taking some "odd" type images if you send me your models after you are done with them.  big_smile

yeah. Mix and mingle... Have a set-up (that isn't $50 for 30 min :p)

Need to find a spot, though.

i'm game for bringing chips. and my latest cameras. sounds like a hoot. i could  even make some salsa. big_smile

completely unrelated...

nikon shooters...has anyone used/bought/played with the d800 and found it really uncomfortable? i fiddled with one at best buy this afternoon, and it made me yearn for the previous generation ergonomics. (my d700 is long sold, and my d300 is in dire need of repair for the false low battery issue). something about the grip, or the width, or something, but my fingers don't seem to fit right. the d600 was actually a hair better, i thought. not sure what i want to do. too many options. too many personal standards to keep up. ayayay.

It's interesting you say that. I borrowed my friend's D800 for a shoot and I even remember thinking to myself that it felt a little odd. Not really uncomfortable, but certainly a bit off. I guess you just have to get used to it.

i'm sure you're right, and it's just a matter of acclimating.

it certainly didn't make my decision any easier. i was hoping the d800 would feel leaps and bounds better. and i'd have an excuse to go for it instead. lol

Guys and Gals:
I may need to hire an addiction counselor to help me get through this next week or so. I just left B&C Camera and they had 5 D800 cameras in stock. I held it in my hands and played with it a good ten minutes. I was so close to pulling my credit card out and going into 6 months of debt and interest. It's only been a few minutes since coming home but I can't stop thinking about it. I know I won't sleep well now because I was so close to having it. I need a friend and counselor. I know I don't need the camera and my D700 is really plenty for me. Someone please tell me how the camera won't make me any happier and how my images won't improve at all. I feel like such an equipment whore at the moment...argh sad

I'm in same boat with the D300 and 17-55. Don't think I could bring myself to sell it as low as market value is though. And no way do I see myself selling D700. There would be times I wouldn't want the huge files from the D800. Either way, I don't need it. It's only lust...

mine needs a little trip to nikon...i'm basically selling it for $400. and yet...no bites.

i'm trying not to spend $30 or whatever to renew at fred miranda...but it seems increasingly worthwhile to do so. it would probably be gone in a few days.

i'm pretty set on a d600 at this point ii think. i don't really love the ergonomics of the d800. i don't really need 36mp. and the difference in my tax rebate would only be a couple hundred max. and a little less weight than the d300/d700 is welcome.

Today my Dad sent me the camera I shot 35 years ago when I was a yearbook photographer back in High School. Naturally I had to take it with me on today's shoot at Red Rock loaded with Porta 400...

What is the price at the pump in Vegas now? Last time I was there it was pretty close to what it was in WI. Right now its about $3.79 here.
