I could point you to the old abandoned Marine Park in LA....except it appears you are two years too late.  A great location for 20 years, but it appears they have finally cleared it out for development (I haven't been over that way in 4 or 5 years.)

Though I'm thinking there might still be some cool shoot opportunities over there...

I have a friend that shot there. Never saw the pics though.  He liked it.  Though he said you should bring "backup" to add peace of mind while there.

Yes.  It is packed with people.  Huge pick nick destination area.  Last time I went there, there was probably 10,000 people in the area.

you can find lots of areas to shoot, its usually not too busy there during the weekdays. I've done a couple shoots over there

park above the carousel and walk north a few hundred feet, shot there a heap of times, including nudes, without permit

for trivia, thats where they set up the San Diego zoo set for Anchorman, for the panda scenes, i wandered around there while they were shooting and saw Will ( but didn't recognise him at the time)

if you go to my website and into the portrait galleries, there's at least two shoots done there, Kellie, and Jessica

Yes, there is an old LA Zoo.  From 1912 to 1965.  It's near the new Zoo.

scroll down, and zoom in and read the sign on the first photo where is says Photos.

You can walk around pretty easily.

The "Old LA Zoo "is above a tall hill farther than the carousel in Griffith Park.

Some poison oak / ivy in the area , also 1 or 2 x a day  park ranger will pass through, if it looks commercial may challenge for permits or just ask you to leave. Most of the area is marked no trespassing, but in theory still public park , go figure ?

A big concern is folks getting hurt, due to lack of any maintenance, then going after the city of LA for $$$$$

The list of TV / Movie stuff done there is huge, some cool old cages and holding areas , tends to be lots of broken glass / some homeless / drug use , engage sixth sense, keep very alert !

I thought that got replaced a long time ago with Donald Trump's golf course.

i didn't realize this thread was already 4 years old and the person I responded too hadn't been there in many years as well.

"Official" opening of the course was 2006.  But it appears to have started development back in 1999.
