I never liked Cindy Crawford...LOL.  Rooms-to-go.

We have those types with the eyes and cheekbones...we are a multicultural society mixed with American Indians.  Maybe the American agencies are being too lazy?  I have three models that I have photographed going to NY and already promised jobs by the magazines.  I've already found the world's #1 male model off of this website.

Hehehe...my fingers are crossed for the healthy American models.

To me, this is like betting on football players as a gay man.  It's fun.

I know! I love it, too!!!

This topic seems very oddly familiar!

I think they both have their aesthetic appeal. I love the models of this decade smile

I believe that if Gianni Versace was not murdered, runway models would be different.

He was the mastermind behind the supermodel phenomenon.

Now, IMO, the model's looks are dictated by Karl Lagerfeld.

If you have looked at the Chanel shows from the same time period you will see the same ( super ) models

But wouldn't a woman prefer Helena Christensen's curves over a waif board like Snejana Onopka?

I'm a woman and I like tiny waify things.

Ruh...roh.......

That's Gemma Ward and she gained 30+ pounds after the death of Heath Ledger...that's why she hasn't been around.

We all have our teen skinniness and grow up.

Versace's models are still curvy and typically pretty...

I personally prefer the more interesting looking models

I like the models from the 90's too! Growing up, Tyra Banks was a role model of mine, she did an awesome job when she used to work in the Paris market, nowadays the only Black supermodel that actually gets chosen to work in Paris frequently is Chanel Iman lol I was a bit upset because Sessilee Lopez didn't get one booking in Paris Couture Week last season.

....I didn't post a picture of her where she looked like she gained 30+ pounds. I've seen the photos, and I actually don't find it attractive. *shrug*

I don't really care about age. I just like the waif look, and I like it better than curvy. You asked what woman would like a stick better than curves and...voila.

They aren't paying the models like they were in the past.  Times have changed.  For example, for the 2010 collections in Europe, none of the regulars were present.

maybe that's why they all look pissed

They admit to botox, like Linda Evangelista, who is the muse in the video.  I wouldn't be surprised if the sales of Botox when up 1000% when Linda admitted to the injections in Italian Vogue.

If you want people to pay attention to the clothes, it's better to have a walking coat hanger with no personality or sex appeal.

Curiously I tend to do the opposite... I've just watched the video and was really looking at the clothes. They showcase it in a manner where I couldn't take my eyes off what they were wearing.

In today's fashion shows, I'm sometimes so schoked by the thinniest/skinniest of the models that it distracts me from the garnment.

Anyways, just my opinion.

LC

if you don't spend a lot of time looking at fashion models, fashion photos, fashion shows... then maybe you will be shocked by the fact that the models are thin. but if you see that body type all the time, then it's normal... and you watch a show and see the clothes.

if you're used to the fashion model build that's common today - then your reaction will be more like this:

I do wish the models were allowed a bit more personality (though, I do kinda like the zombie gait as well.) I do like that the models of today don't necessarily exude sex appeal. I like that they are beauties that the general public doesn't immediately (if ever) understand.

I know what you are saying from an artistic aesthetic.

The designers complain that they aren't making any money.  The designers depend heavily on the American economy.  And now they are tapping into the Chinese market as I have never seen so many Asian models on the 2010 runways in my entire life.

IMO, women cannot relate to the women of the runways and advertisements today with the zombie gaunt.  I think in today's world, people want a little fantasy and sex appeal to take their minds off of a troubling economy and world.

When I see Snejana Onopka on the runway, exaggeratedly thin, and is from Eastern Block, all I can think about is starving to death and trying to pay my mortgage.

hahaha priceless.....
