Since joining MM I have enjoyed communicating with fellow colleagues and models.

I guess what I am trying to get at is what am I missing? What's the purpose? If it's just a place to shout out, "I need Coffee" and  "Good Night" so be it but I am not getting it and I want to figure it out.

I understand about networking. I understand we make announcements just to have fun and for no other reason, to drive traffic to our port.

I just want help in a definition of the intent here so I can figure out if I am missing anything or where I can contribute.

So, for those who get it, do you care to explain?

J T

Because it is better than being "there".

I am here because I can meet models to shoot, photographers so I can grow and for the fun of it.

Sometimes you just really want to talk to people who understand what your world is about, to have a conversation with someone who gets it.

Hey JT...

Ya know... I asked myself the same question a few weeks after I joined here... then I started to read the TAGS on my MM page... checked out all the kudos, the nice comments, the feedback... then I discovered that I was making a impact in peoples lives... you could be too.  Checkout your TAGS and draw your own conclusion.

A while back before I discovered the internet, I have asked myself why I do photography. My answer was because I needed to find something creative to do, and photography
was the most fascinating outlet I could find.  I fell in love with the idea of shooting and the possibility of being published in some magazine someday.  I looked at images that were created by Helmut Newton, Ansel Adams, Bunny Yeager to name a few.

As far as why I am here on MM.  Well, outside of networking, I enjoy this outlet if jjst to meet new people who share that common interest, receive compliments for what work I have accomplished. And actually take the oportunity to photograph those models I have met here, or from some other similar site.

You can meet some interesting people at the circus in NY.  Many influential people go to Circus Du SoloArrosal,  many influental people bring their children to the Big Top Circus in NY.   So this is sort of a circus but until somebody important shows up besides me and a few makeup artists,  I think we should call it a Zoo without cages.  We need those stinkin Cages.   Good point though.

Well - for me I can say this site brought me "back on track". I was kind of burnt out doing the same things all over again, but here I met people who taught me a lot about inspiration and technical issues... Lol - and thanks to some other GWC I learned that I'm not as bad as I thought I'd be... yikes)

So a general thanks from me to all of you...

Can't wait to see what's next to come...

This is not a conference room.  Right now this is a corner pub which turns in a nightclub on some nights.   You can get to know people at a bar/club and occassionaly do some business.

Sometimes you just meet and know who you like then call the next day when the lights are on and you are sober to really discuss business.   Sometimes business is done in the pub especially over a 4 Guiness lunch.
At the nightclub,  sometimes a hack of a fashion show springs up,  or you meet a model or photographer that you would not have met otherwise.   You might meet someone who if you spoke to their agent, agency, or manager would get you a door slam and a "Ba bye,  Ba bye".   Does not happen often.
But hey I sucked face with Helena Christanson at a fashion party years back so all things are possible.   That does not even count the times Anna Wintor tried to pick me up.
Does not happen often but a handful of times is worth it in my book.

As tacky as it sounds,  this place is like the ideal of "Cheers".
When you walk through the door after a long day,  it is great to hear "Norm,  Norm,  glad to see you".  Or in my case,  "Jack,  shit,  Jack is loose again,  everyone hide and delete whatever you said that was just stupid."

You never know who you might meet in a bar or a club.   And it is nice to go where everyone knows you name.

Never experience any of that.  I heard people are mean,  sacastic, and vain.  I have not seen that either.

This place reminds me of Mr.Roger's neighborhood.

Because of NJ's high prestige and class over the other states, no one would dare mention it. It's strange how people just disappear if they talk bad about Jersey.

JT, man, I think, for the most part, that's all it is, networking on a casual level than you would in other sites.

However, there are some in this community who are just hanging out, waiting for the next Haley's comet wink

Could someone please tell me why I'm here;
I have nowhere else to go,
I only stopped in to read a few threads,
And NOW I'm a member with photos to show.
The threads, most are funny and some are quite bad;
Some you can learn from; about the experiences they've had.
Take you some tags and send them to friends;
And if you really get desperate, go photograph models', OR just clean a lens.
There's no perfect answer as "To Why You are Here", and we don't really know of a cure;
One things for certain as you click on the mouse, you aren't out modeling or photographing, right now,
and that, my friend, WE KNOW FOR SURE!

I think its nice on this site as it has a different feel to others...its nice to get positive comments on your pictures, be you a model or photographer..It helps to encourage you to continue and do more and even better things,  without being told to "do better"

Some sites I have experienced are full of photographers who just rip and tear your pictures to pieces, then end up leaving you feeling "Why bother"....

Everyone needs encouragement as each and every one does THEIR best.
