Hey guys!
This is a shot from my most recent shoot. I'm actually rather proud of it, but I would like to send it in for competition. Is there anything that you would do to make this better then it already is? (:
(unless u think that it sucks, then well... shit.)

It could use some careful contouring, texture (detail) and contrast work.
its a bit flat right now.
its missing the final step that an image has to go through which is style smile

I agree with Koray, the image does seem a bit flat.  Some contrast work would give it more of a pop IMO.

Make it look more 3 dimensional with curves.

Some sharpening, specially in the clothing (the leather jacket looks so feminine)

depending on what you're wanting to enter it in... for just about any competition, it is way too soft. needs sharpening, less "glow"... maybe a slight dragon effect and a color boost. msg me if you want an example posted.

it needs some D&B contouring to make it look more 3dimensional and less flat.

What do you guys think?
I'm still not sure if it'll win me the competition. I kinda really need to win it cause.. I don't have a camera, sick of borrowing them, and the competition's prize is a camera.. >.<

oh and haha, the jacket belonged to the female stylist, couldnt find a guy rockish jacket in time.

Since the original is so flat, the lighting is not going to do you any favours, I'd make a virtual copy in LightRoom and start hacking to the bleeding edge until you find something nifty.

Applying dodge and burn will help but there just isn't enough base material to keep it real.
Well that is if you like some reality in images, not all do.

): what makes a photo flat? how do you.. un-flat it when still in the photographing stage?

btw what's the difference between photoshop and lightroom?

Flat usually refers to a photo that has a lack of perceived depth dimension to it.
It is usually achieved by having shadow/highlights on the subject or perspective that
gives it depth.

LR is more for categorizing and bulk processing, PS more for one at a time image manipulation but there is a certain degree of overlap between the programs.
