Just a heads up, these aren't RAW files as the term is traditionally used.  The RAW file for these would end in .NEF or .CR2 or something other than .JPG

Yeah, they're 'just' hi-res jpegs but that's more than enough pixels to do web work.

Some people say 'raw' to describe untouched..no prob with that. Image editors know immediately about the format and do their best to make the client happy smile

Yep, but I've come across a few photographers who thought they were using "RAW" and didn't realize the full benefit of using the real RAW file until I showed them how to use the actual RAW format.

Wow, I just realized I've been doing this wrong all along. I guess with the way I upload them to my computer, it automatically turns them into JPEG rather than me taking them straight from my SD card in RAW.

I'm so glad I figured this out, thanks for the heads up!

You've probably got the RAW files already without even realizing it.  I'm going to guess that you're shooting in RAW+JPEG and whatever you are using to import the photos is only importing the JPEG files.  It may be importing the RAW too, though.  If you see twice as many files with half of them not having a thumbnail picture, those are probably the RAW files.

Here's mine!  Hope you don't mind that I gave it a shot.  I've been doing this less than a year and I'm entirely self-taught, so I know it's not on the same level as some of the people here.  Still, it was fun!  It's in my port if that's ok with you!

After post note:

I don't know why it came out so small, but you can see it much better in my port.

Hi Ryan,,ty for the encouragement smile I have the whole workflow on my main computer...on my lapper right now. I will PM u tomorrow with the exact workflow.

Basically I used LR3 for most of the exposure corrections (same machine as ACR on CS5, so if u have CS5 u are set).

Upped the exposure until was close. Used fill a bit. Upped the tone curve a notch This made a ton of noise...I used a big dose of noise reduction, both luminescence and color. I then boosted the presharpening a bit, then jumped to PS. In PS I did the local corrections w spot healing/clone...the usual.

I then made a brightness adj layer, boosted it until the blue eye makeup and dress popped, then filled the mask w black. I then white painted just to pop the colors and necklace (as well as the eyes) Vary the brush opacity a bit.

When all the tones looked right I did a global unsharp mask 120/1/3, edited the fade dropdown to luminosity, titrated the opacity globally, then added MORE sharpening to the eyes and jewellery with the sharpen brush (be careful). I then made a ctr-alt-sft-E composite, duplicated, blended to multiply, then masked out the model, leaving some vignetting.

Back to LR to tweak the noise reduction, then converted for web.

Sounds like a ton, but actually moved pretty quickly. I may have messed up this story a bit...I have the actual flow at home and will get it to u tomorrow.

TY for asking smile
