Well I guess that's pretty much the end of nude sunbathing in the wilderness where no one could possibly ever, ever see you. smile

I'd be REALLY impressed if the images' dynamic range was close to that of film...

Buy what? It's a stitched panorama shot with a long lens.... Granted it's thousands of images stitched together, it just takes time and patience....

Great resolution on a pretty lame image... Still impressive.

It's actually surprisingly easy to make these and not super expensive either (assuming you either have or can rent the gear). My last gigapixel I did (5 gigapixel to be exact) was done using the following setup:

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 100-400mm @ 400mm
Gigapan Epic Pro (motorized head, can rent for cheap, or buy for about $800)
AutoPano Giga (auto-stitching app)

That same day, I also shot a 25 gigapixel one from the roof of my building in San Francisco, but unfortunately not had time to process it yet.

The one trick I'd recommend is making sure you really nail your focus (it makes a big difference in the final product) and make sure the air is as clear as possible (issue for those of us in San Francisco).

That's nothing - below is a 300 gigapixel photo of a white rabbit sleeping in front of a snow bank at high noon (shot at f2.8, 5 minute time exposure):

Pretty impressive resolution huh?  smile

Has anyone done one of these with exposure bracketing for true HDR?
