are your huge palettes reusable/refillable?  if not, it might not be a worthwhile investment to find a case just to fit these palettes.  You can easily transfer the content of your palettes into smaller refillable palettes.  it'll make life a lot easier for yourself!

My kit's massive but finally organized.  Whenever I have a job I just toss what I need into a couple of those blue bins at the top and off I go.  Once the holidays are over I may rip up the carpeting so I can have a sculpting/casting/painting area or a wig area if I get a regular theatre job.

I've posted them on my blog, so feel free to go have a peek smile
The random ramblings of Makeup Artist Siân Lidgate

My brushes aren't there though - They were drying after being washed at the time!

Someone should have warned me taking these pictures takes forever!! hee hee  Here are pictures of my makeup kit. Minus some un clean brushes, liners, and a few  foundations I recently used and have to clean up. Yuo can kinda see the Eyelashes, nail files, rhinstones, eyelash curlers are in the pink boxes on the right.

On topic but off topic here: You know what makes me mad??

Just when I think I have everything consolidated down to the smallest full kit possible (to do makeup for women) I get called to do a "light men's grooming" in which I only take out what I need and leave the rest at home.

My men's kit consisted of just my:

1 soft lunchbox full of foundations/skincare/powder
1 small Benefit box that has a bronzer with a couple of blushes
1 small kiehl's lip balm
1 mascara and
1 yaby shadow pallete (just so I could play with it on off time since I just got it)
1 peach lip liner from MUFE because I forgot to take it out from last time

and a few men's hair products, a brush and a comb, and a blowdryer and flat iron.

Turns out there was a miscommunication (!!) and instead an Indian doctor, a Vietnamese doctor, and a Caucasian doctor, all female needing hair and makeup walk in instead!!!!

This, nor the fact that I had to go McGyver on everyone, didn't make me that mad either.

What made me mad is that with these few products I was able to turn out some of the best commercial, clean, and flattering looks I've done to date on "real-women" with hardly a kit on me! Now I'm wondering why I lugged around 80% of the things I have been for the last few years!! It's maddening and I don't know how to bring myself to getting rid of a lot of it, but I just proved to myself I don't need it all! Now I'm more confused than ever.

Dont be mad!!! LOL. It just shows what a fab makeup artist you are.

I was once on a job with multiple makeup artists.  I was looking at this one artist's kit and he had everything in one backpack!!! I was like wow, how do you fit everything in there and he said, "When I hire makeup artists to go on jobs with me,  I ask them to bring their kit to see what they have."  He went on to say that the less they overpacked, the more confident they seemed, as it made them look like they didn't need 1000 products to do a good job.  I can't help overpacking for anything - job, vacation (I bring like 6 bikinis and 5 pairs of jeans on every trip), trip to the mall, whatever - but I think about what he said all the time and I think it rings true.

I know what you mean. I am thinking about getting graftobian dual foundation to use on the men. I do not need 90% of the things In my kit to do a female actress, model, or clean look. I feel It's best to bring a lot.  Things for acne, or clear skin, light or dark skin, men or women.  I just love aquiring fantastic makeup! I could mix two shadows to make certain colors. When I do makeup It's for 1to 4+ people or many looks. I just do not have time to be mixing eyeshadows to get the color I want.  I have tons of foundations. Now that I have rcma palette. I mainly use rcma on every model-client. Anytime I make my kit smaller someone  asks for  something I left at home. Pins, sewing needles, tape, random stuff.

Men let you put mascara on them?  Wow! I use cream-liquids on men. They don't fight me. But I know they would not let me use mascara on them! hee hee

Some people can do anything with 4 foundations, primary colors, and 1 mascara. I'm not that makeup artist! lol  I know my skills and limits.   I need my kit!  I gotta be ready for the female mustaches, acne, sideburns, scars, brown  spots, puffy under eyes, Ingrown hairs, badly shaped eyebrows.... There Is no Photoshop on  runways, stages, or red carpets!

lol , I haven't tried, other than clear before. It was another one of those things I brought "just in case". I was on a job one time where part of a guy's eyebrow was blonde but the rest dark. I had to put mascara on it to blend in. It just always stuck in the back of my mind and takes up no room, so why not. Also good for like a random gray hair that is obviously out of place. smile

Oh and to add- for my lack of lipcolor I took the Kieh's and a Yaby shadow that looked almost burgandy and used that for the Dr. that said she uses a brownish red on a regular basis. It was perfect!

I know!!! I want to be that makeup artist.  It's like being a swiss army knife!  I panic when I think of being underprepared. =*(  Like when I drive to a job and I suddenly have this fear that I forgot my brushes.  It's the worst feeling in the world.

Sounds like you did a good job with what you had. I would had to stop at sephora, or Ulta and spent $$$  I need my kit for emergencies like that!  Wow...yaby sounds so wonderful. So many people rave about It. I might have mild ocd. Cause I don't want little eyeshadows In my kit unless It an entire yaby palette. Or maybe that's my excuse to try and get  that $92.00 palette. lol Yep!

Well I hope you can be that makeup artist! That's a good goal!
I see many people that cando that! I'm not mad. I'm happy for them. I pull out my 2 rcma palettes and find a great match every time!  I have tons of  brushes. A lot are still new in the plastic. I pack two seperate brush rolls.  My major fear Is to forget my brushes for a major event.  I always bring many sponges too! Sometimes people forget to tell you your working on 3-5 faces...and not the 1-2 they talked to you about!! Yeah... I  totally love when that happens! I'm about 99% sure It's not an accident! lol

That's a clever idea for lipstick!

Lottie (my nick name a long time ago growing up) comes out here and busts is out and I was GIDDY WITH EXCITEMENT!! OH MY GOD!!!

It was like every picture was more and more and THE PALETTES OF SHADOWS ... I'm serious ... I was freaking out because I've always been concerned that I have too much .. and this showed me .. I never can HEHE.

Where did you find your NARS palettes for the blush? It's the ONE issue I have with the NARS blush ... I need palettes badly for them.

Hugs girls ... I will get my case photographed tomorrow and display them proudly for you to see .. it's such fun the organization we all tend to use. I have to do hair too on probably 95% of the shoots I do so I have an entire case for the hair supplies too. Thankfully I am in the midwest and can drive to my locations otherwise ... I'd probably have a golf cart or a slave person to carry my stuff.

Happy Makeup!
Lindsey

Mine looks simular to yours...just pink and it has an extender section to make it bigger if I need it. I've been really happy with mine so far.
