Two part mini documentary on the Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe guitarist) photo project "This is gonna hurt".

http://www.hulu.com/watch/227807/this-i … s-p1-sr-i0

Reminds me a lot of Mark Romanek's art direction (9 inch nails "closer", Marilyn Manson) Others are saying Joel-Peter Witkin.

It's not really ground breaking, but I'm kinda diggin' it..

Thoughts?

edit: Wow that title got jacked up with the odd characters in the motley crue name.. sorry about that!

I just saw his portfolio a couple of days ago.  Too lazy to go search...

Searched,  he had a profile under his name, made two post.  That profile is gone.  Now he may be back with a different name or different profile.

I really hate that old film effect on the video - it's a little over done and it annoys me quite a bit, lol

If he is on here I am sure he is under a different profile name. His original account was 1039134  I exchanged a couple emails early on. He is a true lover of photography and really wished to be taken serious for his photography...but people on here just wanted to talk about his music. I know he was a fan of Jan Saudek as well as Joel peter Witkin.

I had not really look into his work and not seen that video.  I am impressed he does that type of work, not the kind of work I would have expected.  I mean the style of work.

He was here once.  He asked that people talk to him about photography and not music.  You can imagine how that went.  So the last I saw, his account was canceled.  He is a great artist.

I would have talked to him about photography and not music.  I wasn't really that big of fan of Motley Crue. LMAO

I like the effect, but not as heavily done as on this video.  It makes it hard to watch.  And as much of a fan of his work as I am, I only made it about halfway through before having to close that tab.

Never met him (hopefully will one day) but he seems like a really cool dude and has nice work. big_smile I have a soft spot for musicians/actors who are also serious about art. smile

Yeah, I knew I had breezed through his portfolio the other day.  A number of photographers I know are also musicians (not as high profile).  Creative people can have more than one outlet for their creativity.

Here is a shot from his old MM Port.  I could never tell if it was really him.

His "old" port was verified by the mods and I remember that image from it.  There was a thread started by Dean a few years back about his profile being approved here.  Now, what they did to verify that it was really him is anyone's guess.

He had a regular photographer profile.  There is usually something that's asked from a particular member to insure they're not just saying they're someone else.  He is also the "Owner" of Motley Crue, the name, etc. and the brains behind the band.
