Hey guys, quick question!  When you pay models to shoot do you file that with your taxes or is it under the table?

It's a business expense like buying a new light meter.  And if the photographer files the business form (can't recall the number off the top of my head), it's included.

Like a capitol purchase, or more like professional services?

Tax deductable.  YOU BET.  I file claim, pay everything I do.

I love it.  No problems at all with the IRS.  I do what I am supposed to do and no more.

And if you pay a model more than $600 a year  you are supposed to file a tax statement for her or to her.  I forget that form number.  So I never work a model more than $600 for the year. bs

Form 1099, misc income. Be sure to get models SSN.

Also, keep receipts for meals, lodging, props, clothing, etc, where applicable. Some things are subject to 50% claim.
