Bluejays have great lines, sort of a WWII fighter plane look to them. Hummingbirds are beautiful, held one in my hands once. Chickens are pretty all golden brown and sitting on a plate at the table!

I used to collect bird figurines as a kid and had a Wood Duck, hee hee. I like birds of prey, esp. the Great Horned Owl, but each bird has a particular 'face and eyes'. Try to dismiss the dipshits that filmed this, but look at the eyes! Wow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxGXtDGt … re=related This is amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAz1L8DlvBM Some finches are incredible to draw... so many colors

Owls rule. One day hiking in the foothills in Mendocino County CA I saw a Golden Eagle that we inadvertently startled take flight no more than 15 feet in front of us. He dropped his dinner and glided downhill until he had enough speed to gain elevation. Just a little while later we heard crows and decided to go take a look. They were harassing a Great Horned Owl that was perched at the base of a branch high up in a tree. They wanted to kill it (owls eat crow eggs and baby crows) but the owl was huge and stood his ground. The crows knew that the first one to actually attack was dead meat and possibly a few of them would go down. So they just fucked with it and kept their distance.

Good way to handle people that piss you off, ha ha Pretty much like that, the size difference was a bit more dramatic. Still, an owl has superior armament. There are two interesting breeds of birds that I enjoy watching in Bellingham. I call them "Parking Lot Crows" and "Parking Lot Seagulls". These birds survive off of the bags of Chinese food to go that humans carelessly toss aside and other bits and dabs. Instead of living in nature, they hang around in parking lots. What is fun is watching a gull try to stand it's ground against a murder of crows. Crows will gang up, seagulls don't seem to have this social skill yet. But they are usually larger and pretty mean spirited when attacked. So, the skirmish starts and the gull begins gulping down as much as it can force into it's mouth as the crows come from all sides. Sometimes the gull eats everything and flies away, sometimes the crows chase him off and first ones in gulp it all down. It always makes for a fun little show.

'Parking lot Crows/Seagulls'. Yeah, I see them too and it always just makes me think, 'hey, go back to the beach' (for the gulls) and the crows, I think to myself, 'shouldn't you be hanging out in a cornfield or around some really old woman or something?' Howard Stern conditioned me make that association ha ha Now Ravens are more exquisite.

There was a municipality in Alberta that was having unusually high power bills one winter. They found out that the ravens had discovered that they could fold their wings over the streetlights in the daytime and the light would turn on and provide them with warmth! :0

I really, really wanted a Mynah bird when I was younger because of their speaking abilities. Not as available these days. As for Ravens... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrYPm6DD44M This is pretty cool & freaky at the same time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFXU7o0f … re=related

I'd say you're lucky. I had some friends driving in west Texas and the silly thing dove into their windshield when they were going 90mph. It took out the windshield. They were okay except for scratches, shock and having to leave their Toyota in a small town for a week to get a replacement windshield..

I must admit now, I should be a PSA for texting. I wasn't texting I swear... BUT I just looked down to see who was trying to reach me (FOR A SECOND) and in the next second I see a big ass bird/turkey vulture 12 inches from the windshield, wings fully spread... Hey now! *Poof*
