However, I might crack a joke and then when they don’t expect it I capture their expression. Experiment with a variety of emotions - show anger, surprise, sultriness, etc. Show diversity. You do have gorgeous face so I am convinced that interesting expressions will help produce amazing images. I would not recommend deleting any images at this time as your port is still very small. ... Another favorite of mine is your B&W. However, I propose deleting it and posting only the right side as I discourage the posting of collages in artists ports. See Rule [3] on page 1 of this thread.
Thanks for the great advice! I have many examples of more genuine smiles, but they all start looking the same to me since I laugh a decent amount in most of the shoots I've been in~ I have two questions for you in regards to your suggestions: (1) The B&W that you liked isn't an image that I made into a collage; I received it that way from the photographer... If I were to alter it (i.e. re-editing and just posting the right side), would it be infringing on the photographer's work? Is it just better to ask the photographer himself? (2) Would pictures with other people (i.e. my significant other during a couples shoot) be too distracting? I'll update my pictures with what I have now according to your guidelines (minus the B&W since I'm not sure what to do with it...), and again as soon as I get other images from trade work (: I simply cannot thank you enough!

I think it is OK for you to crop out a part of the finished image without infringing on the photographer's work as long as you do not edit it further. However it never hurts to ask, I don’t see any reason the photog would object. (2) "Would pictures with other people (i.e. my significant other during a couples shoot) be too distracting?" You should NOT post an image with your bf UNLESS this image is top class. If you do post, please do NOT mention this is your bf as this would seem unprofessional.

Blatant Pixels Photo wrote: I would like to know. Before I proceed evaluating your port, please help me understand something. The images you currently display have all been posted very recently. These are shot in the same style, while I see many other photos in diverse styles credited to you by your models. I also note you have been on MM for a long time. So may I ask what is your objective by showing this limited set of images? Understanding this will give me a context in which to review your port.

ikonas Boston wrote: Greetings Paige, You have a strong port featuring a great diversity of expressions, poses and styles. I find your androgynous look unique and interesting. I find no variants ... yay! There are a few images that should go. Great photography here, but your hips/thighs look heavy. Cigarettes are not cool anymore in the 21st century Posting an image with a group of models in a minor fashion event is not adding value to your port. Remove the caption "Ad published in 02/02/2011 Village Voice Make up by Heather Wolverton, incorrectly attributed to Marta Maria in print(as she canceled)" - who cares - why dwell on the negative ? As for my favorites... Great pose, expression and photography. This image makes a great AVI due to styling, expression and pose that project a mannequin like image
In the specific instance of the Village Voice ad, it's more a matter of the correct artist getting credit, not the artist whom canceled. Just mentioning that it was credited incorrectly might still carry the association for some people that Marta had something to do with that shoot(not the case), and they just mixed up names/attributions. Heather did the work, Heather gets 100% of the credit that I can give her, given that it was misprinted.

Beth Chambers wrote: Me please Hello Beth, Having a 15 image limit on MM account is an advantage - it forces one to select and post only the very best images as is evident in your port. You have done a good job working within these constraints providing a good overview of your figure, portrait, poses and expressions. This is all a photographer or a potential client needs to make a decision whether to move forward or not. I would not recommend deleting any image, but if you insist, I would say this one as it does not offer anything more than your other images. Unlike your other images, neither your pose nor your expression are that much captivating. I love your fiery red hair, and this image nicely sums it up all.

_BlossomFairy_ wrote: would love to hear your thoughts Hello Blossom, Welcome to MM. Firstly, I like your profile as it provides a good overview of where you stand and what you are looking for as a model. Same with you newly created portfolio providing a good glimpse of indoor outdoor shoots with a good range of poses and wardrobe. I even like the way yo organized your images by alternating landscape and portrait. Was that intentional? Personally I try to match their height by placing one row all landscape, one row all portrait. Many MM'ers simply disregard this small aesthetic issue and just randomly place their icons, which can be a distraction. If there is any weak point it would be that you offer a similar smiling expression in most of your photos. I will not ask you to delete any for this reason, just not in the future to select images with a more diverse set of expressions. Show diversity - anger, surprise, sultriness, etc. I propose deleting this image with your lovely friend MLT as you are already displaying two other images with her. Worse, your expression is sort of blank and you don’t seem to be looking in the direction of your pointing hand. The image serves no purpose. My favorite is this one for your wardrobe, makeup and beauty. And this one your nice side glance, beauty and great B&W photography. Best of luck!

Thank you so much for your feedback, I organized my photos the way they are on purpose. I must admit, you were the only person who remark that. As for expressions, I am still trying to work on it. Not many photographers wanted to shoot any negative emotions but I do have some of these emotions coming. I always jump on opportunities where I have the chance to show my ability to show more emotions. I am going to take note of everything you said, it's really helpful. Wish you great success always, -Amy

The insane asylum/ abandoned building concept is super unique and your images are quite captivating - the theme and style are very consistent. Your execution is superb. To be even more consistent with your own style/theme, I recommend you abandon the abandoned resort hotel's skating rink as the light, unlike the rest does not seem to be natural. For consistency sake, you ought to caption this image as the viewer expects to learn where each image location is as the theme of your port is location. Ditto for this one. An abandoned dental office perhaps ? https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/19714764 Hard to pick a favorite but here is one for its superb light Same goes for this one https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30087139 Thanks for sharing.

CarinD wrote: Criticize me please!! Welcome to MM Carin. Your starter portfolio provides a good glimpse into your beauty. Your expressions are for the most part good. I evaluate ports based on several principles spelled out in my original post on Page 1 of this thread. It is easy to greatly improve a portfolio at any level - from beginner like yours to advanced as well - by following these simple rules. Most artists try to fill their ports to the maximum images allowed. To do so they often use variant images. But this is a detriment. Rule [1]. In your case I would remove two of images 1, 2 and 4 in first row as your expression is similar. I will leave it up to you which of the three to delete. I would also remove one or two of your images in the grass. Same location, same dress. Also remove your collage - Rule [3]. It also is a variant of the above mentioned images and has a snapshot feel to it. You have couple very strong images. This B&W I love for your beauty and superb photography This one is great for your attitude. It should be your AVI. Great caption too. Best wishes

If you read my rules and scroll back to see some of my previous reviews you will realize that I have been preaching against posting variant images. So as not to sound like a broken record player, I am going to do something new. I will ask you to actaully keep your variants and make a best use of them just by simply rearranging your port. Lets turn your weakness into a strength. I went through the trouble of actually taking a snapshot of your current portfolio - image group #1. I then deleted three images and rearrange everything for you - see image group #2. Image group #1 below shows you have lovely figure and can produce some captivating poses. However you have three classes of variant images, carelessly arranged. Some are in the forest, others are B&W and rest are on the beach. The eye is confused due to the random haphazzard arrangement. First, lets delete three of your weakest images. The image below is OK (1st row, 2nd image) but nothing really captivates the viewer. We dont want to post just OK images, we must post only great images. Next, in this nude image (2nd row, 4th image) your pose shows that you can't stretch like a professional ballerina or gymnast. Your leg is crooked in your pose. Focus on your strengths, and avoid weaknesses. Delete it. https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33167863 The image below (the lower of the two) shows they way to do the pose properly, at least in my mind Lastly delete the image below (3d row, 2nd image) as you have one too many to arrange your port the way I want you to. https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33167758 It is a beautiful image, so if you are attached to it, dont delete, but simply hide it and when you have room in the port later on as you expand it, you can simply unhide it. Here is image group #2 showing how your port ought to look like. I arranged it in three groups of variant images, however each group has a nice consistent theme. Row 1 - in the forest Row 2 - B&W Row 3 - on the beach Each row is sort of like a collage (which I am against) except much more effective. Personally I have over 150 images uploaded in my MM account, however I never show more than 50 at a time to keep my port trim and also to fit a certain theme. I spend lot of my time arranging and rearranging my port images. There are hidden images with over 100 comments just because I want to keep the port compact as I practice what I preach here - less is more. In your case I think the final results are much more pleasing to the eye, and it shows that you put effort not just into making each individual photo, but that you also organized your entire port thoughtlfully. Whew, I think I said enough, I am tired, lol. Best of luck!

I love when my readers actually listen to me by deleting images which I recommend to delete and then come back for more I think your port is perfect now. If you reached your limit of 15, its time to treat yourself and upgrade to VIP membership. However, even if you get the 200 image limit, NEVER disply more than 50-60. Use the spare space to hide images as I do - see my previous post. Keep up the great work Beth.
