Best - Great shot for your port! Cool headshot!!

Worst - I wish is had a bit more light on it. You also look very tired in it. Projecting more confidence in your mood would help it too.

Thanks so much for your critique, I see exactly where you're coming from. And WOW!!! You're portfolio is so incredible. Picking a best is impossible for me, because you have so many gems beautifully displayed. It's literally like picking the shot that isn't as radiant as the others...which means one is a hair below the other.

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/21704608 I had originally thought was a tad less powerful than looking at the other thumbnails, but upon clicking on it was pleasantly surprised. You created a wonderful environment for the model, who is both beautiful and gifted at posing and expression. I cannot find a shot I would not endorse to be in your portfolio. Very well done.

Thanks,  Tom

I would take this one out... The pose feels awkward and I wish her face had more light on it.

Hotness!!! Try no flash next time to pick up some more contouring on the body. The flash flattened her out some. I still love it though!! Great comp and location!!!

Your Best....because it just draws you in and is simply amazing, great post, her gaze etc:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/091221/00/4b2f377557583.jpg

Your worst because it is flat and lifeless compared to your other shots it just feels limp.....maybe its the flat lighting...I dunno but not workng and doesn't rock like the rest of your work.

Thank you!! Yeah the fish eye shot is strange in a thumb nail view. I have a few that I might purge soon! But I do get attached to them!! Ha!

Worst - I feel shooting this horizontally would be better. Perhaps a bit more fill light on the background to help tell the story.

Best - Oh my!!!! I love this set so much!! AWESOME style!!!! Great pose work and I would love to get my hands on a outfit like this for a shoot or 20. Ha!!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/27302432 18+

Best 2 - Great team!! Awesome post work! Perfect model for the job!
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120225/20/4f49bb40e805b_m.jpg

Worst - Only because I feel the crop needs a tad more breathing room on the bottom and I wish you shot it from a slightly lower viewpoint. I still LOVE the area and style!!!
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/091101/07/4aedaebc4491a_m.jpg

Worst 2 - This one is not your fault at all... I just wish she set a mood that matched the style she was rocking! A tighter mischievous eye would have punched this way up!!

Best 2 - Perfect mood for this style! Nice job!!! I love the finished out lingerie look here.

Worst - It is a bit to bright for my taste. Sexy idea though!! Great MU too.

Worst 2 - I do like the booty shot... I just feel the upper part of the pose dose not match the lower part.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121021/05/5083ec3e498a3_m.jpg

Worst 3 - I would rather see a great pro shot in it's place. I get it though... I do like seeing a REAL shot of the people I am going to work with. You both look great though!

Best - Very cute model! I wish the the new car was not on the left. I want the whole image to have vintage feel to it. One that matches the time of the main car.

Worst - Sexy pose and style! WOW! - I get the play with shadows... that is cool. However, I can't stop looking at the wrinkles on the paper roll. I also wish the model had a bit more light on her and a more frisky mood!

Best - AWESOME STYLE! Love how it matches the area!! Wish the photog didn't chop your shoes out of the shot. They are part of the look!! I also wish it had a tad more light.

Worst - Not sure if this was on purpose... I wish the shot was turned the correct way. Your fingers are to ridged, a more natural delicate hand pose would help it some.

is this a fair thing to say, based on my bio?

Hi Sam,

I've just spent 10 minutes on your portfolio and blog site - so it's fair to say I know nothing about you, your life, what you want etc - so here's a series of thoughts that you should feel free to ignore...

Model Mayhem is all about connecting photographers, make up artists and models so they can shoot/create

Your profile does not really 'sell' you on any level. Example? The pictures you've included (and thoughts you've written) project a junkie-hippy chick with a slight bi-polar disorder. That may or may not be you - but i'm just telling you how it all reads

Why tell you? Because what you put on MM will dictate your creative/collaborative opportunities.

If all you're looking for is an extension of your blog - and a way to tell a wider audience how you think/feel - then you've probably nailed it... By it won't maximise your connections here.

Looks-wise, you're certainly going to find it easier to shoot in the alt genre, but that doesn't need to limit you, I'm just saying that when anyone starts something - it's easier to build experience etc by hitting the lowest hanging fruit.

If I had to pick someone famous that your look reminds me of, then it would be Patricia Arquette (overall, but mainly in Stigmata - check this link http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=patric … e+stigmata then click 'images')

I don't think 'sitting room with a phone-cam' is going do it... You seem to be creative - so tap into that creativity.

Get 5 GOOD shots of you, retouch them and post those in your portfolio. Use the 'Profile' section to explain what you want to do and what interests you - rather than too much about how your brain works.

You probably spend a lot of time thinking about what books/music etc interest you...  If you want to progress on MM, then you need to 'build your own opinion'. The easiest way to do that is with LISTS. They are easy to use and free :-)

Find ANY picture you like on MM. Top right on the page is 'ADD TO LIST'. The browser will ask you what you want to call it. You can have as many lists as you like - and add as many shots as you want to each one. Personally, I'd suggest you start with:-
1) Shots I'd like to try (helps people understand if your ideas match theirs)
2) People I'd like to work with (gives them a nudge)
3) Amazing - Love it!  (for stuff that's pro-class and way cool)

Finally, if you tick 'No' to nudity in your profile, then stick to it.

Your profile reads 'I want to get my kit off - please convince me'.
You're young and have LOADS of time.
Start BASIC modelling first - build your lists - understand more about what YOU want from this and WHY you're doing it.
That's your 'core'.
Start there, build up your portfolio, connections and ideas THEN decide that you want to be naked, swinging from a chandelier by your ankles...  But START SLOW and DON'T send mixed messages.

Best - I love that this shot hints at super glam sexy but falls in the natural beauty range! Such an amazing photo of you! It will leave your viewer with a "dang she was/is stunning" feeling!! Nice job!
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121226/21/50dbdc8cd99ee_m.jpg

Best 2 - Just a great all around shot! Nice job!! The only thing that could help it is if you found a way to show your other arm in the pose.
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/121226/21/50dbddef136dd_m.jpg

Worst - Your arm has been foreshortened in this shot and make the pose feel un- natural. It is also to bright for my taste.
