Like Sgt Friday always says, "Just The Facts Maam, Just the Facts."

The fact is, it's not a beach, there's no sand, just a bunch of rocks, ending in mud, depending on the lakes level.

The "lake," is "Lake Travis," named after a Texas Hero. However it's not really a lake, it's just a damned up river, who's level varies widely.

The proper name of the beach is McGregor State Park. But even the State of Texas, admits it's better known as "Hippie Hollow."

Since it is a "State Park," the State of Texas, has all kinds of signs advising the Visitors, about the rules and regulations.

It is "Locally," Well Known, throughout the entire State of Texas.

Should you not be aware of that fact, it's the only State Park, in the State of Texas, that requires you to be over 18 to enter.

Should you miss all these "Hints." When you first enter the park, the first thing you see at the end of the walkway from the parking lot, is the first bathroom.

My Avatar is that wall, and the signs on that wall, on that bathroom.

So, there is no way in hell, that anybody accidently, walks in there, not knowing what is going on.

I've done photo shoots there, it's cool that you can have a model outdoors, Nekkid, with no problems, but the lighting is tricky as hell.

Another thing that's "tricky as hell," is what to wear?

Usually, with a regular model, I kept my shorts on, and everybody was happy. But with some models, usually the ones doing their first shoot, they said, "hey, if I'm getting naked, you are too."

Rule Number One: Whatever the model asks, within reason, humor her.

Hell, I'm not shy, what the Hell.

Rule number Two: if some guy, thinks you brought a girl out to the park, just to pretend take pictures of her, while you have all your clothes on, just so you can take pictures of his wife/girlfriend in the background with a zoom lens...

Him, and is friends, may decide to "Watercheck," your camera gear.

So, I can understand why a photographer might choose to get nekkid.

Even Knowing that the ratio of bulls, to heifers is 85 to 15 on a good day, and if anybody is gonna get ogled, it's probably the naked guy.

Not saying it's a gay hangout, but...

I too have "Suffered," for my art.

And there's two ways to look at things.

I've heard about this place.

Its relatively close to San Antonio, right? Like 60 - 90 minutes away, right?

Sound like an interesting place to shoot.

Hippie Hollow has been around for a long time. The area has a tradition of nude use. The signs, however, show the ignorance people have when it comes to social nudity. Too bad.

Many people are ignorant of how to handle nudity...sign or no sign.

So you admittedly do model shoots while nude, under the pretense that the model gave you permission?

There are a number of beaches along the Texas coast where nudes can be shot without problems with the law...you just have to be smart about it.

I think it's pretty simple. If I take a model to a nude/clothing optional beach for a shoot... 1) the model is informed about it beforehand, and agrees; 2) we're shooting nudes, to which the model was informed about and agreed; 3) If we are shooting clothed shots... well, that just seems like the wrong place to bring a model. If at that point she questions my intentions, that would make sense.

If I take my clothes off without the model's permission or some other sort of mutual understanding of where we are and what we are doing (I've shot at clothing optional locations before)... well, that's on me, and not some unspoken expectation that she should read all the signs upon arrival AND then expect to find me nekkid when she returns from changing.

There's a difference between Giving Permission, and a Reasonable Request.

The fact is, "I've never asked, if I could." But I have been asked to.

Either way, I don't care, other than, it's tough trying to keep track of two sets of JUNK while shooting, LOL.

The "POINT," I was making, is that I can see where a photographer shooting at that location, might choose to be nude, to go along with the crowd, so to speak, rather than risk, being labeled, as one of those guys.

And if you walk around McGregor State park, with a camera, and all your clothes on, you are risking having your gear checked for being watertight. And then there was that guy a while back, who went to jail, for trying to be stealthy.

I see most of ya'll get "it."

The beaches are public property in Texas. You don't need to go to Hippie Hollow to achieve your goals. Just keep driving/walking until you find a secluded spot. You can drive quite a ways away from the population/visitor areas.

I'll say though, if you are traveling from another state, it might be best to stick to Hippie Hollow in Austin for your own peace of mind.

And as far as it being as sausage-fest: I thought you were photographing your model....

I've shot at Hippie Hollow Park for several years and some of the pictures from there are in my portfolio.  It was perfect for me as a naturist and photographer.  I could go there to enjoy the sun and wind on my body as a naturist and for those models that want some "Au Naturale" pictures for their portfolio (nudity is legal there), I was their photographer.  I've got a lifetime membership to the park.  For 2 years in a row (2009 & 2010), I was the  coordinator, photographer & participant in the annual AANR-Hippie Hollow "World Record Skinny Dip".  I even started the "Hippie Hollow Skinny Dippers" group on Yahoo.  The site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HHSkinnyD … =337909581 .

You must not be a naturist/nudist if you feel that way.  A true naturists/nudists would never describe it that way.  Try it, you'll like it. smile
