So far i've been doing my own hair for shoots. Every now and again a friend would do my makeup.  I also provide my own clothes. Is this the way it should be?
Shouldn't the photographer provide hair, makeup & wardrobe?
(no disrespectful comments please)

Hi Erika,

Every shoot will be different based on what the parties believe the value on the opposite side of the camera is. If it is not worth it to you to shoot with someone if they are not providing MUA and wardrobe, talk about it before agreeing to the shoot and only agree to what you feel is beneficial to you.

Barring being stolen from, or lied to, you can't be financially taken advantage of unless you let it happen. Know your own value, and the value of what you want to receive back for it, then communicate appropriately. Don't assume that the other party will have the same views as you. Discuss everything that is a concern to you and you should have no surprises if you are working with a professional.

Much success and good luck to you.

Seriously though -- budget considerations.  Tough to do unless there is someone to bill the costs to. (commercial client)
