or Canon or Pentax etc .... only used Nikon in title since it was a Nikon I was aiming at. Are any of these worth keeping, what would you have done different, and which of the 3 do you prefer?

Premise: creative juices aren't really flowing right at the moment, so playing with a few ideas here and there. I have a 38 (unloaded) that has a built in laser sight. I figured it might make for an interesting image... so just playing with the idea.

I started out with 1 monolight camera right, a blue gel and a honeycomb grid setup in studio with a black backdrop.

Next I added another monolight, camera left with a snoot and a yellow gel. I stopped down the blue gelled monolight about 50% and set the yellow gelled monolight at about 50%.

This one looks like a fingerprint on the lens, but it is just the refraction of the laser.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but if you want to get creative, try shooting some blanks with an acoustic flash trigger.

That will make for some interesting images...
