I have a collection of 1979-vintage Minolta MD lenses (Vivitar, Tamron, and Minolta) that are used with my equally-old XG-7. These pre-date the more modern Maxxum lenses.

Would these work with any DSLR body, perhaps with an adapter of some type.

I've not shot with the Minolta digital toys, but my experience with Nikon equipment has been that it will work, but that it's a pain.

The Nikon digital SLRs I use require electronic Fstop information from the lens, or else you're shooting on pure manual.

Studio work, fine.   Just don't go for a spontaneous shot outdoors.

I think you have to get the right adapters.  Depends on which body you're trying to fit it on.  I read on the minolta list of mixed success.  But particularly in cases with special lenses (like if you had one of the 85 mm MD variosoft lenses) it would be worth a try.
