Regardless of how old the movie is, what is the best movie you've seen in the last 6 months?

For me, I think it's Donnie Darko.

I just watched that movie again last night (Donnie Darko).  I love it.  The directors cut is great because it actually explains what is going on, but I love the original edit because I can come up with my own conclusion.

The King's Speech

What an artful little jewel of a film. It did not condescend nor did it patronize or did it preach. It did not try to strangle me with my own heartstrings nor attempt to scour my eyeballs and eardrums with relentless ADD-level hyper-kinetics. I was enchanted for nearly 2 whole hours, which is quite a feat.

God Bless America

Bobcat Goldthwait's latest. A heartwarming tribute to contemporary USA.

Yeah, no. Not really. Way-over-the-top satire.

The Campaign

Will Ferrell. Zach Galifianakis. I need say no more.

Not Crowe's best work but a fun movie. Susan Sarandon is awesome and the best cover of Freebird in the movies ever.

I worked at a movie theater in 1987 when Spaceballs was new.  I thought it was pretty hysterical then.  I got to see the whole thing because the general manager royally screwed the pooch when he set it up.

  Comb the beach!

I like movies where the bad guy wins. There aren't many of them around. Maybe that's part of what makes the Godfather trilogy so fantastic.

Casablanca NEVER gets old.

Lincoln was pretty damn good.

Perks of Being a Wallflower is probably the best of its genre since the 1980's.

If I've seen LA Confidential in the last six months, I'd go with that. And I probably have.

If not, Lincoln, currently in theaters.

The Master was the best one I caught in the theater, closely followed by Djano Unchained.  The best I watched at home aside from the usual dozen that I always blab on about were Phantom of the Paradise (1975), House (1977), and The King of Comedy (1982), and Suspiria (1977).

House is the most batshit insane movie I've seen in a long time, and I've seen some batshit movies.
