Hi. smile

Your current bio:

I joined Model Mayhem to find beautiful models for my pastel figure paintings and pastel portraits.

I usually pay models and only photograph for reference photos to be used later in my studio for my pastel paintings, therefore no photographs are ever given out if I hire you.

If you would like to TFP with me for either an original pastel figure painting, figure drawing, or even a pastel portrait of yourself, message me, I am sure we can work something out.

Please note however, that I DO NOT WORK FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S PHOTOS- if you would like to TFP with me, you must come to my studio for us to work together.

My studio is in southern Maine, just a little over an hour from downtown Boston.

You can see more of my paintings, including recent ones for sale at the
above listed "Timothy Parks Gallery Page" link.

I think you'd be a rare case where more words would benefit, because models may be interested but unfamiliar with what to do or expect when sitting for a painter.

Also, from your current profile, I understood that you photograph for reference, but I took that to mean you photograph for reference if/when a session runs long with no intention of showing the photos  -- but if you mean that you photograph for reference with the intention of showing that photograph alongside your art, you should state that.

This would be my revised version:

Hi, I'm Timothy.  I'm an artist/painter.

I hire models to sit for pastel figure paintings and pastel portraits. I am also available for trade work.

I do all of my work out of my art studio in southern Maine (a little over an hour north from downtown Boston).  At typical sitting lasts from ___ to ___.   During this time, a model may be expected to _____.  If a session runs long, I may photograph for reference. These photos are never published and are destroyed after a painting's completion.  I do not work from referencing other's photographs.

If you are interested in working with me at my studio, please message me.

I have a big favor to ask.

I love your revised bio, but after reading your revision, I realized that I did not explain myself at all. In my previous bio, I had said that I used to paint just from life, but that since I joined MM I am now working from reference photos, therefore when I hire you I will be photographing for reference photos only, therefore no photos are ever giving out (or something to like that).

I never, ever, publish photos that I take . I only show the finish painting, which may have used anywhere from 1 to 10 different reference photos.

I also still paint from life (when a model doesn't want to charge me up to $150 dollars an hour)!

So the favor is, could you write me a revised revision? smile

If I did not explain myself or add enough info, please tell me.

Thanks, Tim

So, you when you hire a model, do you have her sit for painting from life at all, or only sometimes?  Or usually just sit for photos, then leave, and you create the painting from your photos later?

I guess as a model, if I were looking at your profile, I just want answered up front how you work (what the process is), what is expected of me, how much time does it take, and what will be done with the photos/paintings.

Some models have sat for artists before. If a model has posed for artists before I usually ask them to pose so I may draw them for the first hour (I like to hire models for a 3 to 4 hour block of time). Then I will photograph them for reference photos for the remainder of the time. These reference photos will be used in paintings and drawings, that will ultimately be for sale on my website and in galleries!

What is expected of models is to pose for some typical fine art nude poses, and then to model for some paintings that I have in mind. I am now painting lifestyle/nudes: model watering a plant, or a model getting out of bed in the morning, or a model reading a book in bed.

If a model has not posed for an artist before, or if our time together is limited, then I just shoot reference photos.

Edit: Thank you so much for all this extra work.

With you, it's about learning how to cut down on non-critical information and S-P-A-C-E out what's important.

People are drawn to short snippets of critical information.

Your current profile:

Thanks for taking the time to view my profile. While you are here take a look at my work!
My name is Steve Baldy. I am a very detail oriented photographer with imagination to spare! I have had a camera in my hands as long as I can remember. From photographing professional skate boarders in the 70's to castles in Germany in the 80's, shooting and developing film in the 90's to Models and weddings and family portraits now!
I lightly edit. I want my work to stand on its own, however I am now delving into the chroma key concept and am finding it a lot of fun!
I hope to network with like minded professionals here on Model Mayhem. I am open to TF work with models who want to create some beautiful work. I will be prompt and professional and expect nothing less from anyone I work with. I have no problems with escorts on shoots but bear in mind, limit one person, and they must stay out of the shooting area and not be disruptive to the shoot. I require a release. I will provide 3-4 edits per look for TF shoots. I do not pay models.
I have a studio at home with numerous back grounds. We can achieve any theme you may want. I also do location shoots. There are some beautiful locations near by, so if you like to shoot outdoors that is always an option.
You can message me here for bookings. I will get back to you as quickly as possible! I will return ALL messages.

My suggestion is to keep the autobiographical stuff on your website - maybe keep a blog, too (if you don't already), to update people on your current interests (i.e., your exploration with chroma key).

Keep your profile on here short and sweet -- this site is intended as a marketing tool.

Hi, your current profile:

My Camera is not afraid of you!

Hello world! I’m Ken, a freelance photographer born somewhere and then I ended up here. Here is where I do the stuff that I enjoy. I love being fun and take a relaxed approach to working with you. I may not be famous but the work I do is. My work is colorful, creative, and often times inspiring.

I am excited about the opportunities presented here. I am enthusiastic about working with men and woman who are dedicated to the creation of art.

Thanks for stopping in.

Make sure you "like" my FB page, I update it often (and put up more photos) than MM: Facebook Page!

I think your profile is certainly condensed, and I like that you post your general availability and schedule on your page.

You obviously go for personality and humor in your presentation, and that's a personal choice.  It's fun and definitely gets across what to expect when working with you (fun, relaxed atmosphere).

Is your work really famous?  In what regard?

I don't think there's anything wrong with what you have, but because I'm such a fan of succinct-ness, I need less zaniness and more information about what you're looking for, if you're open to trade, how to best contact you, etc.   You seem enthusiastic to work with models, then kind of leave us hanging -- do we contact you with our ideas, or are you more the type who scouts out his own models and doesn't want to be approached (that's OK, too)?  Is MM even a good place to contact you?

I'd go with something like this:

More work here.   http://curly-as-if.deviantart.com

I now have about 4yrs experience.
Had some great shoots and looking to do more, try new genres. I shoot as much as I can and as often as I can. If your a new model looking to add to your port I'm a photographer who would like to help' If your experienced all the better. I love to try new things and am quite open to different concepts. I like to create art, so let's shoot.

So here's the deal. If I ask you to shoot, it's because I think our styles will mesh, or I like your look. Or maybe it was because I thought I could contribute something of substance to your port. Please don't waste my time with your "happy dance". I'm not looking for a date I'm happily married, with grandchildren. I'd like to think I'm better than amateur but yet pro. I'm focused on photography/art, nothing else.

I'm getting better with each shoot. Trying to shoot as much as possible and learning more each time. I am ok with shooting any concept you have or I can surely come up with one. If your interested in shooting with me or need some portfolio help then just message me. I REALLY don’t turn down anything. As a final note. I do not photoshop. I'm really concentrating on controlling my lighting to make a great photo, not relying on photoshop to fix it.

So far I have been fortunate to have worked with some beautiful and talented models. It has definetly shortened the learning curve. I want to make art as do most people here. I hope to work with all the talented people here.

Thank you!

- Don't apologize for your height, which you may perceive as a short-coming.  There are many types of modeling where height isn't a factor, especially if it's a hobby or you merely enjoy creating art - there's nothing wrong with that!

- You may want to define more about your goals as a model.  You will never be a fashion model working in the mainstream world due to your height, but it doesn't mean you can't do it as a hobby.

- Consider creating a website for yourself with a blog!

Hi Leone,

Your current profile:

** PLEASE LIKE MY PAGE! LEAVE ME A COMMENT SO I CAN RETURN THE FAVOUR!  **
http://www.facebook.com/leonepmodel

Hey!
So firstly, my look changes a lot. At the moment, I have teal coloured hair with a black flash. I love it, so it may not change for a while. However, I would be willing to wear wigs or change my hair colour for a shoot if it was required.

I would describe my look as alternative. I have several tattoos but no where near as many as i would like!

I have an arm sleeve, a hand tattoo, a full length leg piece, a little tattoo on my calf and a bigger piece on my inner calf.
I also have some piercings including ears, lip and an anti-eyebrow dermal.

I have some experience with modelling but would like lots more.
As i say, my look is alternative but i'm willing to do a variety of shoots.

Themes i would love to do are as follows-

-Geek sheek shoots i.e gaming.
-Vamp.
-Horror/gore/zombie.
-graveyard.

Please refer to my list for some ideas.

I would love to appear in the likes of Skin Deep one day as my tattoos are my passion!
So,if you want to work with me, get in touch!

Please note, I do not do Nude.

My revisions:

- Move your Facebook fan page to where it has the option to enter in your website address and title.
- Get rid of the list and make photo lists for the concept ideas you have so people have something to refer to; some people are visual.  I have no idea what "Geek Sheek" is, but if I saw examples, I might understand.

Hi, I'm Leone!  I am an alternative model.

I have several tattoos:  I have an arm sleeve, a hand tattoo, a full length leg piece, a little tattoo on my calf, and a bigger piece on my inner calf.

I also have some piercings: ears, lip, and an anti-eyebrow dermal.

At the moment, I have teal coloured hair with a black flash.  I would be willing to wear wigs or change my hair colour for a shoot if required.

I'm willing to do a variety of shoots, but no projects that require nudity.  Please refer to my lists for concepts I'd love to explore.

If you want to work with me, get in touch!

Thanks Emily! I think I'll use your revisited version. I would like to translate the bio I use in Italy, that is quite different, a lot more emotional.

Please take a look at mine and give me your thoughts.  It may be a bit long, but I think I really need to get all that information across. smile

Your current profile:

I model strictly as a hobby and for fun, and have modeled for artists, classes, and photographers for more than 25 years. My preference is artistic nudes, and those I have worked with say I have a look which nicely represents the average middle aged woman. I believe that every woman is beautiful and should be open to sharing that beauty by modeling for art and photos to inspire other women and boost their confidence.

I have experience working with other models and creating sensitive poses together. I am really interested in doing new work along those lines. My work is always tasteful and never adult type and I would like to keep it that way. I try to have a classic, timeless, simple yet artistic style, respectful and sometimes thought provoking or erotic. I need you to realize that at my age I am not as physically flexible as I was in the past, so there is no possibility of doing twisty bendy poses or standing on my head.

I am 100% natural and proud to be different, we are all unique. I have abundant untrimmed pubic hair as well as underarm hair, and even though I have been asked repeatedly I no longer shave either area for photos. I do have skin problems which may require smoothing; and also visibly bad veins and discoloration in my legs. Artists can ignore these but they may require some editing in photos. There is no problem with photos being shown with these areas not retouched if that is your choice. Reality is good.

If you need a different look, I may consider wearing a wig, but the only one I have is a 1980's look short curly brown one. My hair color was originally very dark but not quite black.

I have done quite a bit of modeling for college students doing required nude figure studies as part of their courses. I prefer to model in real studios or outdoors in appropriate locations where you have permission to work, and I will consider each situation based on its merits. I will always be accompanied by someone when working with a new photographer or artist for the first time, this is not negotiable! You can put them to work helping with props or whatever, or they can remain nearby and will not interfere. The only exception is for established regularly scheduled sessions that take place in a classroom or if working with large groups in a gallery or studio. I would like to model for more female photographers since I know there are more of you out there, to pose for classic artistic work, and for artists who draw or paint.

References will be checked and due to limited free time to pursue modeling, I must be selective about what types of assignments I will consider as well as the distance. If you have something interesting in mind, please feel free to ask. You can see the styles I am most interested in by reviewing what I have done in the past and looking at my credited photos and my inspiration list, which demonstrate the level of exposure I am comfortable with and poses I would like to do. I don't mind having everything visible or doing really erotic poses, but let's always keep it tasteful and talk about limits ahead of time.

Paid assignments preferred. Sometimes I will consider a trade for quality completed artwork or will trade for a CD of all the poses. That is more likely to happen with student artists or photographers, particularly if their work is for a class assignment or used for a gallery display.

My friends list will consist mostly of people I have worked with, or who I would be interested in working with someday, and other mature models.

A few random things and concepts I would really like to do:

Win the POTD 18+ with a tasteful yet erotic nude pose just to prove I can do it
Nude in a real art museum, with a group or crowd of onlookers standing nearby.
Be drawn or painted nude in a studio by one or more artists who are also nude.
Nude in an elegant mansion with Victorian or other high-end furnishings.
Multiple models together, think 3, 4, 5 or more nudes of different ages and looks.
Sensual, artistic, erotic, playful or massage nudes with another female model.
Nude with another model in the kitchen playing around with frosting and sprinkles
Nude in a laundromat or a department store full of customers (staged of course)
A series of photo sets featuring the same pose clothed, in underwear, then nude

Also please look at the list just below, and my credited photos for other ideas.

My revised version (I still feel it's too long, but you do have many factors to present up front):

I model strictly as a hobby and for fun, and have modeled for artists, classes, and photographers for more than 25 years. My preference is classic, timeless, simple artistic nudes.

Paid assignments take priority. Sometimes I will consider a trade for quality completed artwork or a CD of all the poses.

I am 100% natural. I have abundant untrimmed pubic hair as well as underarm hair, and I no longer shave either area for photos. I do have skin problems which may require smoothing; visibly bad veins and discoloration in my legs.

If needed, I have a 1980's short curly brown wig I can wear.

I prefer to work in real studios or outdoors in appropriate locations where you have permission to work.

I will always be accompanied by someone when working with a new photographer or artist for the first time. The only exception is for established art sessions that take place in a classroom, gallery or studio. My escort can assist you, or they can remain nearby and will not interfere.

My friends list consists mostly of people I have worked with, or who I would be interested in working with someday, and other mature models.

You can see the styles I am most interested in by reviewing my portfolio, my credited photos, and my inspiration list, which demonstrates the level of exposure I am comfortable with and the poses I would like to do.

A few concepts I would really like to do:

Thank you so much, my concern all along has been that people don't bother to read profiles anyway.  Your revision is shorter and straight to the point, and I will probably make use of your ideas. smile

My experience has been that most don't.  They will jump to your profile, look at critical information (name, location, age, stats) and then click your portfolio.

Then, unless they're interested, they'll move on.  Most of us get about 3-4 seconds.

If someone is interested in working with you, then they will take the time to go back and read your profile -- but may get frustrated if it's too much!

Glad this helps!

Mine is probably lacking some key information - which I doubt you can add, but let me know what's wrong with what I have - if you can.

Hi!

Your current profile:

My name is Scott.  I've been shooting for two years after a long break working in film/television and more recently web development.   My focus is on beauty, fashion and portrait work, but I am also interested in experimenting in other areas.

I am looking to shoot with talented makeup artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylists and clothing designers for editorial shoots.

- First, it's already very succinct.   You get right to the point - your name, a small relevant sentence about your experience, and your focus.

- You mention you'd like to network with MUAs, stylists, designers -- what about models?  What are you looking for in models, if you are looking?  It appears you are selective, so, for example a brief statement like "Rates available upon request; limited testing with agency models" or whatever you're looking for can add insight.

- What is your best method of contact?

D'oh.  Excellent point - I took that for granted. I should definitely look at adding something in about working with models - No point in bringing in an MUA without a model.  For the record, mostly agency standard, but I am branching out into doing some fitness and lifestyle.

Thank you.

Hi, your current profile:

I've joined Model Mayhem to explore all aspects of photography.

I don't really have a defined style yet because I'm always learning and trying new ideas which influence what I shoot and how. I enjoy using both natural light & strobes with a preference for interesting outdoor locations, but am also comfortable in a studio setting as well.

At this time I'm only able to offer TF (time for retouched photos) as compensation to those interesting in shooting together.

If after viewing my work you're interesting in setting up a shooting or have any questions / concerns please fire me a (private message) Don't be shy

Many thanks ~ MR
