I've seen some really talented cosplayers and cosplay photographers on MM, I hope people can show off their work here!

Don't have any cosplay to show off, myself, but I've a few ideas I've wanted to do for fun.

And that's a very nicely made costume!

The first few images in your port certainly seem like cosplay! I particularly like the first.

People sometimes make wonderful stuff, it often amazes me the amount of work they put into these costumes, and they lend themselves so well for some colourful photography. I find it unfortunate when on cosplay.com one sees a a talented cosplayer's gallery full of blurry snapshots. In my experience there is little overlap between the cosplayer and the modelling community (or at least the MM community).

Many of my cosplay photos have been published in magazines around the world. It's probably my favorite genre to shoot.

Beautiful cosplays! I don't have many in my port but cosplay is probably my favorite style of shoot too.

That's great stuff! Being able to shoot cosplayers in a studio is something I don't see often, I'm mostly just chasing after them at conventions...

It's really not that hard at conventions, I find cosplayers to be very approachable and accomodating. That said, it's very hard for me to approach people, particularly since cosplayers themselves seem to be in groups (understandably so, as they often take public transportation and it's tough doing it by oneself in costume). You might try outdoor locations a bit more, though, as inside the buildings the lighting and crowds make it extremely challenging.

Some really neat stuff in your portfolio. I'm usually not a fan of CG backgrounds, but they lend themselves well when it comes to creating a cosplay scene (https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30033368 looks amazing).

The first three pics in my port are quasi-cosplay. The costume is a work in progress and will ultimately look very different but we were excited to shoot it right away since the catsuit alone looks pretty dramatic, particularly when coupled with the futuristic setting.

That's a great Scarlett Witch!

Being a very inexperienced photographer who does mostly TF with newer models I've always found that giving directions is a challenge. One thing cosplay does have for it is that the costumers, while often lacking modelling skills, sometimes make up for it by portraying the character they are imitating. A few years ago I used to be familiar with most of them (mostly anime... I'm talking Anime North in the late-90s), but now there's a huge amount of video game characters I know nothing about (it helps to give suggestions if one has context).

Since I loved Pacific Rim I was elated to find a Mako Mori at FanExpo!

I don't usually keep them in my port on here due to the limited photographers who have reached me wanting to shoot specifically cosplay, but the ones I've done can be found here! http://woot859.deviantart.com/ And I have two more cosplay shoots on the way! wink

Strictly speaking it is, but I mostly think of cosplay in terms of dressing up as a particular character (say,
Mitsuko Souma as opposed to a generic schoolgirl -- although the difference may be subtle ^_^)

A flying Kiki! You don't see old Miyazaki characters all that often nowadays...

I've been cosplaying up until recently.  I really love the diversity in looks. https://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/119/6/e/6e875cc43883e6e166405c772c85a54e-d4x2m1e.jpg
