I already have this in my profile but wanted to elaborate, and also post in the new forum!

I shot this with Mosh for Tease and Cake Magazine (www.teaseandcake.co.uk). Since I don't have a lot of tearsheets under my belt, this was both exciting and fun.

She brought the 1950's items, and I did the set design using some things we had at the studio (couch, beaded lamp table, magazines, etc).

Main light source: The 2 tilted lamps pictured.
Secondary source: The lights on my rolling makeup station smile
The image on the bottom right corner of the spread was a hot light.

Things I learned:

1) Don't be afraid to shoot high iso with table lamps.
2) Set design is fun, and challenging
3) Experimentation is good.
4) Images were a little grainy and soft, but in the end it wasn't a huge deal. Next time I'll use Live View to focus.

I have another set with a different model coming out in the March 2014 issue of Tease and Cake and I'm happy about that smile

I think my favorite one is the one in the lower corner, really love that spot-light look of the controlled spread.

Very nicely done!  Thanks for sharing how it was done.  I wouldn't have thought to try that on my own and I really like the look you got with it.

Congratulations!

It was a learning experience for me as well and I'm not always confident when trying new things.

Want to know a secret?

I tilted the first lamp to get a little light on Mosh's face. It came out of necessity. I decided that I liked it and tilted the second lamp as well. I think it adds a little discord to the harmonious 1950's setting, that Mosh set in motion by being there.

Mosh is fantastic. I worked with her once, but you did a bang up job, and definitely should write that up and submit it to MM EDU.

Great work -
