I have been working on this project for about six years.  It has made drastic changes since it's inception.  I wanted to play around with the idea of the Horsemen to actually be women.  I wanted to also play around with the idea of them doing a photo shoot also.

I knew I didn't want there to be actual horses in the images, so I decided to use the color of the horse in Wardrobe.  There are lots of different interpretations on the first horsemen....so I choose Pestilence since it had more of an impact rather than some of the other interpretations.

The following images are the results of my labor.  Enjoy!

Pestilence-
"I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and she was given a crown"

War-
"Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To her was given a large sword."

Famine-
"I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in her hand."

Death-
"I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hell was following close behind her."

Excellent project, wonderful execution! This is the sort of thing that "Check Me Out" should be about.

Just beautiful!  I love the way the horse skull is embedded in the fascinator/hat!
That's a first for me as I have never seen that before.  Very well done.  Thanks for sharing smile

6 years, I am not sure many have the stamina for that.
I like the concept and the execution, the post production must have been a very long and tiring process as well. Did you use green screen technology at all.
Could you give us a short description of the thought process as well as the physical processes you went through to achieve your goals please.

Nicely done.  I never wanted to encounter Death before, but I may reconsider.

Hahahaha......This is a long story.  Well This was one of the first shoots I ever wanted to do.  In fact it's how I met my long lasting Makeup Artist through a co-worker.  I sat down and told her what I wanted to do and she came up with look sheets of the makeup designs.  Originally the shoot was going to consist of one model doing all four looks.  Some of the original looks and ideas did make the final cut, others were just plain BAD!!!!  My photography and photoshop skills at this time were basic at best at this time.  Well we decided that we could do all four looks in a day, so we had costumes and locations down, and it was time to execute.  Have you ever done a fourteen hour shoot before...well I have it was the first attempt of this...and it was a fiasco!!!  We vowed to never attempt a super long shoot like that ever again!!
Here are some photos of the makeup and designs.....famine was the last one we shot, and you'll notice I didn't even shoot any of the makeup for that, because by that time it was about thirteen hours later and we just didn't give a damn anymore! tongue

Okay so reluctantly and with much embarrassment I will post samples of the original first Four Horseman shoot attempt from back in 2007-

Pestilence-

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/apest21_zps7d61a3cc.jpg

War(ughh the costume is horrible!!!)-

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/bwar20_zps62ea2d47.jpg

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/bwar6_zpsbf079639.jpg

Famine-

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/cfam1_zps70825450.jpg

Death(P.S.- the woman in the picture frame was some stock photo of some old lady that we downloaded from the internet!)-

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/death3_zpsd46f73ec.jpg

https://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f306/tollmoney/IMG_1206_zpsdbfee76e.jpg

So as you can see the first attempt was horrible!

Years later as my skills greatly improved, I knew that If I redid the shoot I would be much more pleased.  So this time, we decided not to shoot all of them in one day, and also not to use the same model, I also decided to go with big name alternative model.  I originally had my eyes on Apnea, who was going to be death.  Mosh who was going to be pestilence, Lauren WK who was going to be war and someone else as Famine.   Well, one by one these models had stuff come up and it fell through.

So....I decided finally I would shoot local models for it.  More story to come....stay tuned....but for now sleep beckons!!

Wow your progress and final results are an inspiration!
Were you totally self taught or did you attend classes/workshops?
