Best Bikini Color for Dark Skinned Model
Dear friends at MM, I am planning to do a bikini photo shoot. My model has a dark skin, as she is Melanesian. I am wondering which color of the bikini suits her. Is bright colors like red, yellow etc will be better, or should I go dark like black? thanks! Jan 16 14 01:30 pm Link There's no set answer for this as people can appear to be the same shade, but have a different "base" color. This is the info you'd need to know. When you know this, finding the best colors is easy. Jan 16 14 01:39 pm Link Your bright color idea sounds good to me. Now if you're talking about a color like a very dark skinned Black, bright colors work best. Jan 16 14 02:25 pm Link Hard to say w/o seeing, but my intial thought would be yellow or white. Jan 16 14 02:32 pm Link Depending on how dark her skin is you can pull of black Jan 16 14 02:35 pm Link Ario Triwibowo wrote: Depends entirely, I think, on how much contrast you want. Perhaps a pasty white girl may not look as good in a snow white bikini as she would a black bikini. Jan 16 14 02:47 pm Link Ario Triwibowo wrote: What color is the background? Jan 17 14 12:48 am Link Super bright solid colors like white, neon yellow or neon peach, that is just me and my 2 cents... EH Jan 17 14 01:29 am Link It depends on the model and what you are trying to do. glam3_061 by FullMetalPhotographer, on Flickr glam3_006 by FullMetalPhotographer, on Flickr cindysit by FullMetalPhotographer, on Flickr FMPglamdemo by FullMetalPhotographer, on Flickr Jan 17 14 11:45 am Link CHAD ALAN wrote: Yup! White also looks great on models who have darker complexions Jan 17 14 08:18 pm Link AG_Boston wrote: +1 Jan 17 14 08:22 pm Link Yellow and white look great on tan and dark skin Jan 17 14 08:24 pm Link Ario Triwibowo wrote: I'd go with a bright color, rather than black or brown. The question is whether to go with a warm color like red or yellow, or a cool color like blue or green. Or white, or a light neutral color. And that depends on what kind of dark skin the model has, what the setting is, and what effect you want to achieve. Red or Blue can work but really depends on the skintone. Jan 17 14 10:46 pm Link Dear friends, Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate all of your answers and sugesstions, and I am very enlightened to try the colors that you all proposed. Thank you! Jan 22 14 07:44 pm Link I like a pale, buttery, yellow. Jan 23 14 02:23 am Link Model: Gaby for Maison de Pascale Swimwear Vivid colors and lighter colors tend to stand out more on darker models. I have a swimwear company (in Toronto, go figure) who prefers models with dark skin for precisely that reason. Sure some dark skinned models might have a particular base color that makes certain outfits look better on them, but that applies to everyone. All people tend to look better with cool colors because they have red blood, and cool colors bring out the red in their blood and makes them look more alive. Some people look better in certain warm colors depending on their color, but all of this is in many ways splitting hairs, because it doesn't mean that much until you view everything in the larger context of what the background is, what color the light is, what effect you are going for, and how much clothing there is verse skin. Sure white clothing and dark dark skin create a lot of contrast, but that doesn't really mean much, other than you can't Jan 23 14 07:18 pm Link I like the look of white or light colours on dark skin. https://www.modelmayhem.com/list/578929 Jan 25 14 08:37 pm Link There is no right answer but I've personally always like orange/burnt orange, black or white. For instance, if a model had strong blue eyes, I might pose her in a suit that had some blue in parts to highlight/compliment the eyes and maybe even a prop that worked with the eyes. So look at the setting, at the color for the day, the props you're using, her hair (I know it's black or dark but does it have any highlights or does she put anything in it like beads?) and eye color. Look at the makeup she uses. That's why when I do a swimwear shoot with a new model, I tell her to bring at least 3 different shoots that are not all the same style or color. Jan 26 14 12:55 pm Link |
