THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO PHOTOGRAPHERS, RETOUCHERS, AND DIGITAL ARTISTS ONLY! RULES 1. ALL 18+ ENTRIES TO BE SUBMITTED BY URL ONLY . 2. Only 1 image per person per day. You may re-submit an image after approximately 15 days. 3 Do not re-submit winning images. 4. For the purposes of this contest RETOUCHING is defined as: "The adjustment of saturation, contrast, exposure, hue saturation, correct blemishes, sharpen, noise reduction, the general look of the picture without digitally altering it etc...". Backgrounds maybe altered in the same way (saturation, contrast, hue saturation, texture, filters) as long as the original picture is not altered in that it used within another image. That is the furthest the picture should be altered. Altering the model or subject by adding images to their original image is also not permitted. If you can alter the original picture without using any outside pieces or other pictures that is the rule. That will be considered retouching. Just work done to the original picture with no outside influences. 5. Digitally altered pieces are not welcome in this contest. 6. Submit your images each day BETWEEN 9PM - 12PM (NOON) THE FOLLOWING DAY Model Mayhem time. 7. Voting commences BETWEEN 12PM (NOON) - 9PM. All voting officially ends when the 'Voting Ended' banner is dropped, with no votes for a given day counted afterward. 8. Winners will be announced some time after the contest is closed. 9. Members may cast 1 vote only. 10. Members may not vote for their own picture or a picture they were involved with the creation of. 11. NO VOTE STACKING! 12. ALL Contest hosts, co-hosts, MODS and GATEKEEPERS AFFILIATED or NOT AFFILIATED may vote and enter in this contest. 13. Starting tomorrow a new rule will go into effect. Your entry must be in a Before/After format. This idea came up in a contest moderation discussion. Thanks everyone!!

I'm so sorry I missed this in the hosts threads! Personally I feel this is a horrible idea to "require" before and after images. I mean why publicly humiliate your client(s) (yourself, models, makeup artists, etc, and so on) just to prove you have actually improved the image through postwork? sorry I realize this is not the forum, just my 2 cents and it had to come out. I agree with Dave. With the new rule you will get a lot of entries like mine because flowers do not get embarrassed when the world sees their 'before' retouching blemishes...Or do they?

With the new rule you will get a lot of entries like mine because flowers do not get embarrassed when the world sees their 'before' retouching blemishes...Or do they? Hi Dave its Marlene (this is my retouching profile). I'm sorry, you know I usually always agree with you but I strongly disagree this time with what you've just said That's pretty much saying that models should feel ashamed, embarrassed or humiliated with the way they look without photoshop..! Nobody was born with an airbrushed skin, everybody has blemishes, nobody has done such an immaculate makeup like those shown in mags front covers, etc.. We should no feel 'humiliated' or 'embarrassed' by the way we look like without makeup/photoshop etc... the media has already ruined so many young lives because of this perception. So I REALLY don't think that a person with a little blemishes and no photoshop should feel embrassed or humiliated. That's just a horrible thing to say I understand that photographers don't like showing their 'original' photo (I personally really don't like it myself either), but on this profile (my 'retoucher' one and NOT my photographer one), you will find lots of 'before & after' examples just so that people can see what sort of retouches I do. If they don't see the original image, how are they supposed to know exactly what I've done to the photo? Its a retoucher's profile, not a photographer one. Two very different profiles. And after all this is a 'Retoucher' contest so it makes sense to see what work has been done to an image! Its not like this rule is required in every contests, but just this one (which makes sense IMO). In the Photographer contest, we vote on the quality of the photography, in the Model contest, we vote on the model's pose, look, expression (and not on the photography), etc... so for a retoucher contest, we vote for the retouches made and it helps to see what work has actually been done and without seeing the original image, its pretty hard to see that! I actually brought the idea of this new rule for this contest. Some will agree, and some won't and that's fine.. but that's just my opinion. Marlene x

The following new rule is in effect! 15. Entrants must post their entry in a Before and After fashion or way. First the original picture. Then the retouched image. It may be difficult for some at first but I think it will set this contest apart from others and be fun. Do not be afraid of your raw images. Impress us with taking something that desperately needs retouching and show us your wonderful work!
