Starbucks over-roasts all of their coffee. It's the only way to get consistent quality with a national brand. I had a pikes peak recently - my first Starbucks in six months. I tossed it after two sips. Way too burnt.

(if you can get a can of Daniel Moser's from yonder.. it's the best fucking roast in the old world!)
