Wow, what a cracker to start us off!

Lots to admire here, originality and interest, attention grabbing, color.

I'm not a huge fan of gels etc. or shadows showing on the background - but this seems to pull off both and it works for me with the quirky subject matter.
Maybe it's a little blotchy.

The pose and model are unique and command attention  - the hand looks impossible LOL and the eyes are  little scary ...

It depends what you are going for!  Undoubtedly clever and creative, funny, strange and even shocking all at the same time.

Nor-Cal Photography ....
I like this image, and the composition is the first thing that stands out as good.  It's a really greaa balance and has interest that still doesn't detract from the model. The feeling provided by the scenery / props is cohesive, and tells a story.

The way she is posed and shows in the mirror is just right
and she looks lovely -
but I have to say that the lighting on the angle of her face could have been just a tad better, to show off here face, and her eyes.

Memorable and classy image tho.  Thank you for posting and playing along !

You have posted two together, that each add to the dynamic feeling of the other, and the atmosphere.

She looks awesome, energetic, with a cool look, and the colors etc. work. Eye catching.

I'm generally put off by setting a skirting board - or mess on floor that is not retouched.
Or cutting off a leg ...

I also notice that her shoes and stockings don't fit right  ;-) but my fave is the top image as her face looks best and has better lighting.

I'd be happy to be shot by you, looks like fun!

Model here is gorgeous and you've captured a playful looking moment
The location and dress are pretty.

Good that she's in the shade and not blown out anywhere by sun.

She's using her eyes well.
I feel this lacks a lot because she's clearly looking at someone else  .... and that is a shame.
Love to see more form this set !

Hi, thanks for the nice words. You do notice the little things. Yes, the shoes are one size too big, had to borrow them from the MUA. I too was concerned with the baseboard but decided against photoshopping it off to show a less formal or studio environment. The top image was intentionally cropped closer to show the vitality of her pose and expression while still showing most of the outfit.

It would be awesome to arrange a shoot with you being the model, your photography is cool too, thanks again

It's so original, and beautifully done.
I especially like her face and the expression, and the light on it.
The color is fabulous. The water looks great and the model is gorgeous.

It's clear the model trusts and respects you.
The pose is unexpected - and there is part of the pose I like and part I don't - merely because it doesn't show off the most shapely part of the female form and therefore is less flattering. I'd like to see her turned a bit more dynamically and still have face in repose like this. Yet this is a very strong statement as it is.

All of your works here on MM are real fabulous and I'm delighted to see your portfolio. Thanks for playing.

OK Mr Hog

;-)

What I like about this is the softness of the tones and the light, which aren't commonly seen with this subject matter - It would often be shot with either little regard for the light play, or 'arty' with harsh light and deep shadows.
Yours is original, and looks very relaxed too.
I like the hands ... and I might like to see a little more definition with shadow on the breast.
The chains look good, and she seems not upset, so that's all good!

Justin  ... this is memorable, cute, funny, sexy and you went out a long way to get it...
so major props!

Love to see more, where maybe you are closer to your Nude and make the angles you shoot from more unexpected.

I like how you placed her with the sun to the side, and probably would like this even more if you were shooting later or faster with darker looking shot too.

Yeah, I liked the glowing light and relaxed feel to this one. A depiction of passing some pleasurable time out in the barn was the sort of mood I was going for. You're probably right about just a bit of extra work/contrast at the breast, I'm not totally secure with my dodging and burning. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.

I was thinking you might want to create that with the light off to the side -
not to try to make it later

Ohhhh.... You want to put me on the spot?

There is nothing about this image that makes it portfolio worthy and i think you know that - as your other images are far better.

For those who posed comments  ''Beautiful low-key shot, very good work, great light and pose, lovely well done!''
...  I could not agree less.

It's under exposed and badly centered - the model is beautiful, so perhaps it would work better as a head shot?

ps
I just put the low res into PS and already it looks lots better - but no where near good enough to post.
Ultimately, when you shoot in the dark, this is the result.

It's not LOW KEY.

Low key demands shadows, and for shadows to exist you need light.
Shoot with any kind of bright light off to the side, and see what you can get. It's still possible to add a light for the models face, but her body will need lighting too.

Cool. This is a favorite theme of mine too!
I like your models poses in general, in your portfolio here.
I also like your approach towards artistic Nude.

The light on this image is very even though, and I think it's being rather flat makes the image less dynamic? I'm not a fan of ordinary light .... because it can offer so much excitement, it's a  shame not to utilize that element.

I noticed you do have some images with light placed to the side, but that then you are getting what looks like some over and under exposure occasionally. Lack of dynamic range.
If you keep the lights to the sides, or the back, and the shutter at the optimum studio speed ... say 160 ... only adjust the f-stop to give you enough light on the  models' skin depending on her skin tone / color.

I'd love to see more work of yours that has mastered dramatic shadows!

Ooooh Third Eye! This is really exceptional portrait. A treat to see.
You have others just as marvelous posted here too.

You have a great lens, what was it?
The image is tack sharp and the light is perfect ... the subject is totally committed to the pose and you captured a lot of feeling
all in a subtle way.

I think you cropped it perfectly,
I'm annoyed by missing fingers etc. This is GREAT!

Thank you for your comments. I go through phases in my portfolio where I like a lot of shadow and contrast and other times where I like almost completely flat images. I tend to shoot both at the same time. Maybe I should put more of the contrast ones up.

Again thank you,

Thank you for your feedback. It comes at a time when I was feeling somewhat in doubt about my skills and my work in general. I am still fairly new to photography (2-3 years) and my self confidence always wanes. Your words meant a great deal. I am not sure other photographers have self doubts or if it just me. But, that was the best shot in the arm that I have had for a very long time. Thank you! Richard

Hello Australia!!!

Wow, Rik, these are ALL beautiful works.

The images you posted is strong and vital, dramatic and very well created.

I do like anonymous Nudes.
It's symmetrical and it's unapologetic - cleverly achieved

The only think that I would have liked more is if the left side of the image had been stretched out a bit later, as it was shot  cropped the tiniest but too close.

Keep it up. I'm excited to see your sophisticated work coming all the way from Australia.

Thank you for the critique, I appreciate your observations and yeas that was indeed cropped a little off centre ...not on purpose lol.

Yeah we have a lot of great photographers here in Oz. The competition is so tight, I think it only goes towards keeping those who care on their toes wink
