with any luck, Bud will drop below hurricane strength before it gets close to shore. Still, a large section of the coast is in for some very heavy rain and strong winds. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

I have found this site can be useful this time of year... the National Hurricane Center.

if you click around a bit, there is a decent (basic) look at both the Atlantic/Caribbean hurricanes:

as well as the eastern north Pacific (off the Central American coast) :

It's expected to weaken to 40mph sustained winds prior to landfall.

"These graphics show probabilities of sustained (1-minute average) surface wind speeds equal to or exceeding 34 kt (39 mph)."

The way I read that graphic, it shows Cabo as having somewhere between a 30 to 50 PERCENT chance of winds equal to or exceeding 39mph...in the next 5 days.

As of today... that graphic has changed... with 50-60mph winds hitting Cabo as early as Wedneday AM... yikes

I wouldn't normally be too concerned about a storm hitting Mexico... but the Nov 10th 'Cruiseboat Photoshoot' is gonna be traveling right thru that neighborhood... and I'd rather NOT wish to see that area destroyed by a hurricane... hmm

Well, the probabilities of winds over 39mph are at about 25%.

But that really isnt the issue.

They are going to get hit with steady winds, 35-40 mph over a wide area, with up to 5 inches of rain on the southern part of Baja. Coastal areas are going to get hit with some huge surf, with swells large enough  to be of concern in local marinas.

Tropical storm Bud is expected to continue losing strength. ( in the past 36 hours it has gone from a cat 4 hurricane to a weakening tropical storm)

Lets all keep a good thought in mind for the folks who are going to get hit with the storm.
