A big fashion designer, a big artist, an excellent photographer and a capricious individual.

(When I read his obituary I was flabbergasted -  from 1944 to 1951 Karl Lagerfeld attended the same school in a tiny town in Northern Germany  which my father attended from 1936 to 1942... it's a small world. Or, as Germans say, "Die Welt ist eine Erbse" - the world is just a pea...)
