Wow! I forgot about Fernwood Tonight. Plus I remember him from Ace Trucking Company. The guy was just naturally funny.

he was funny by making others funnier,
his timing was comedy gold for This Is Spinal Tap and Best In Show

Despite his health declining since his beloved wife's death in 2018 Fred was active and still witty as noted up until where we last saw him contributing sketches on the Daily Show just before the stay-at-home orders went into effect.
