Antifa are the new Brown Shirts. and now we hear the historical term, 'Brown Shirt', and we think them horrible. they believed themselves noble - what they imaged was good.

we are all individuals - we should be judged by the values we express.

I hear Trump instituted a 10 year sentence for people who pull down statues.  he needs to keep going with that type of thing with looting etc etc.
but I wont complain....these riots won Trump 2020 already.

prolly the 'saying' that had the most profound effect on me is this - 'there are three sides to a story; yours, mine, and the truth.'

my grandmother used to work for a country doctor, the same doctor that delivered me and my brothers. after he died, she was allowed to take a memento from his office. she took a sign with that quote. which is the same sign from where I got the quote.

it got me thinking about subjectivism, about how small and presumptive we are in perceiving the truth. it was an introduction to philosophy.

One day sitting in a quantum chemistry class back in grad school, there was a guy who always sat in the front row. Every time he asked a question it was very revealing that he did NOT have a clue. One day he raised his hand- the prof tried to ignore it for some time when finally, standing a foot in front of the blackboard he gave in and said ok, what?

The guy asked a typically uninformed question again revealing his lack of understanding. The prof fell back onto the blackboard and said
“The depths of ignorance are much deeper than I realized.”

Not to be dismissed, the student then said “look I am just trying to learn this stuff. There’s no reason to be insulting.”
The response came back, “I am not being insulting, I am simply stating fact.”

As the class session ended, the guy hung around and raised his complaint again pointing out that the class was a requirement for the degree. By now, the prof was a tad irritated. His last statement was “Look, there are a lot of schools that would take somebody like you. I suggest you go find one.”

Ouch!!
