Now, more than ever, I could use some good news. 2020 has been the worst decade ever.
It has seen enough doom and gloom to last a lifetime.

Here is something to make things a little better,
The Animaniacs are back! (with Pinky and the Brain)  big_smile

2020 was a decade?  Wow, it only felt like a year to me.  Time flies.

there are stories, lots of them, but they get buried in the grim reality of the day.

here are a couple, (I have a weakness for the ones with kids)

Make-A-Wish: NJ Devils select 13-year-old battling cystic fibrosis in NHL Draft

TOMS RIVER, New Jersey (WABC) -- A 13-year-old battling cystic fibrosis was selected by the New Jersey Devils in Tuesday night's NHL Draft, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Reilly Hoagland, of Toms River, said his one true wish to become a member of his favorite hockey team, and the Devils broadcast a special honorary draft selection as part of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Reilly's wish was granted as a surprise outside his family home, where the Devils' mascot "NJ" and Devils' alumni Bruce Driver and Grant Marshall presented him with a contract, his own jersey, and a special video message from GM and Executive Vice President Tom Fitzgerald welcoming Reilly to the team.

Girl Who Challenged Dave Grohl to Drum Battles Is Now Co-Writing a Song to Perform With Foo Fighters
By

----  https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/nandi-b … -together/

Two people who’ve been having quite a bit of fun during lockdown are Dave Grohl and a 10-year-old girl named Nandi. Since August, they’ve been taking each other on in the most epic drum battle. Now? The pair are getting ready to jam on stage some day.

Nandi Bushell lives with her family in the pretty town of Ipswich in England. A superlative drummer, she’s been playing since she was five-years-old.

She kicked things off with Dave in summer when she posted a video where she drums to the Foo Fighters’ hit song Everlong.

Nandi wasn’t expecting one of the world’s biggest rock stars to respond to her fun tweet. But before long, Dave Grohl was posting from the Foo Fighters’ account and matching her rendition beat for beat.

He then one-upped his new pal, suggesting they battle to Them Crooked Vultures’ Dead End Friends. She matched the rock star’s beats, and then some. “You got me,” Dave had to concede.

meaning we've had a decade worth of loss, tragedy and frustrations
packed into one horrific year.

If you are riding high, living the dream, then a small victory might not mean much,
but for me, things have been tough.

This year has felt like a decade, hasn't it?

Does Bill Clinton still play the sax in the Animaniacs intro?

This year---at times it felt like that scene in Star Wars where they go into hyperdrive..... and as you say, at times it seems like it will simply drag on forever.

Animanics was a goto for me when I needed a giggle in its hey day.... I still have a couple DVD's of the show..... Pinky and The Brain slayed me...sometimes I identified with Pinky, and sometime with the Brain... (most often Pinky I think)

Do you mean the 2010s, 2011-2020? Or does 2020 seem like a decade?

I look at every day I wake up to be a victory and another chance to see the beauty of the natural world.  I've chosen to live close to foothills of the Appalachian chain and when I start feeling stressed or overwhelmed I just go take a stroll in the forest or sit beside a mountain stream.  I find nature's wonders to be absolutely fascinating.  Wildflowers, wild mushrooms, wildlife and clear mountain streams can keep me entertained and uplifted for hours.  When you watch wildlife going about their daily routine it reminds you of (or at least reminds me) of how complicated we (man) have made things.  I take great joy in bringing children into the forest and showing them the wonders of nature.  I take photographs so I can have reminders of nature's wonder and beauty when I'm stuck at home and can't get to the forest in person.  I enjoy blending the feminine beauty of an attractive model with nature's natural beauty and serenity and capturing that image to share...or to keep for myself as a private memento.

Aside from the American media politicalizing a global pandemic and aside from the same media's tolerance for violent alt-left protests I don't think 2020 was such a bad year. I met people as a result of the pandemic that I never would have met otherwise.  So I suppose your perspective on 2020 depends on whether you choose to look for reasons to be positive of if you walk around looking for a reason to be offended.  I choose to look at the positive experiences from this year.

You asked, I answered so what's the problem?  Did I use too many big words or is it my lack of a cartoon reference?

there is good news out there- news that reminds you how resilient the human spirit can be, and reminds you of how hard these medical care professionals work to save lives.

Hiker Rescued From Mount Rainier Makes ‘Miraculous’ Recovery

When Michael Knapinski arrived at a Seattle hospital, his heart stopped for 45 minutes and he was put on life support. Two days later, he was walking.

By Marie Fazio
Nov. 15, 2020, 6:32 p.m. ET
----  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/15/us/m … e=Homepage

Michael Knapinski was hiking in Mount Rainier National Park last Saturday when he got lost in blinding snow and freezing conditions.

The next afternoon, after hours of fruitless searching, he was spotted by a helicopter crew and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Upon arrival he was unconscious and had hypothermia, and his pulse was faint, said Nick Johnson, an emergency room doctor.

Minutes later, Mr. Knapinski’s heart stopped.

For the next 45 minutes, doctors and nurses performed CPR and hooked him up to a specialized heart-lung bypass machine that ran his blood through an oxygenator before pumping it back into his body.
[...]
But two days later Mr. Knapinski was sitting up in his hospital bed, his heart and lungs functioning normally, expressing gratitude for being alive.

“He was as dead as somebody gets before they are truly dead,” Dr. Arbabi said. “For this person to come back and his mental status to be great, it is as miraculous as it gets in medicine.”
[...]
But Dr. Badulak said Mr. Knapinski’s recovery was less a miracle than it was a testament to teamwork, from the rescue crews to the emergency room doctors and specialized nurses. Dr. Badulak said she was overcome with emotion when she passed Mr. Knapinski’s room on Thursday and saw him sitting on his bed, eating a sandwich and laughing with his mother.

“He is definitely lucky for all of that to have all worked out that way,” she said. “Everything in medicine has complications because we try to do these advanced things and defy death, and it’s really cool when it all works.”

this may only make the AC/DC fans smile, but they released a new album
[----  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=O … EkOHd0rxa8    ---)

... 47 years ... and they are still rocking.

AC/DC is my favorite "garage" band- the kind of rock you heard in little bars and clubs, kicking ass...the kind of rock you listened to with a beer in your hand surrounded by friends.

critics say ---it all sounds the same...
fans ---yeah!

as a member of the "old goat" generation--- it does my heart good to see a bunch of retirement aged rockers still kicking ass....

Oh man, AC/DC. I have had such a love affair with that band unlike any other.
I grew up in the "flick of the switch, fly on the wall, and blow up your video era"

which unfortunately isnt always on the top 5 of many AC/DC fans, but awesome albums.
they lost me a bit with some of their later albums such as black ice stiff upper lip and ball breaker...sounded a tad too basic even for them, but with Rock or bust and power up, they are back!! Demon fire, money shot witches spell realize, so awesome!

This is brightened my day. AC/DC has had plenty of ups and downs over the years.
After Bon Scott died, I thought they were done. Maybe they would have revolving
door singers (I'm looking at you Journey) and play the has been county fair/casino circuit.

Then they found Brian Johnson  and made Back in Black one of the comebacks of all time,
and now that he is back and hopefully healthy. It seems the only fitting way to finish.

I am seeing a lot more Christmas lights going up much earlier than usual, around the neighborhood.  I'm also seeing a notable few that seem to have had a lot more creativity and work put into them than in the past.   It's a nice trend...  smile
