Reuben Benjamin Kramer, 20 June 1922 – 14 September 2021

The inventor of the popular Milton Bradley (now Hasbro) board game, 'The Game of Life', passed away yesterday, at the ripe old age of 99.  I had never heard of this fellow, but interestingly enough, he is also the designer of the original Star Trek phaser rifle, that was used in the pilot of The Original Series, "Where No Man Has Gone Before", which aired 55 years ago in September 1966.

Apparently Mr. Kramer was active in the toy industry, and even teamed up with Art Linkletter to promote the Spin-A-Hoop during the hula hoop fad of the 1950s.

99 years... he sure hung in there, didn't he?

I had a copy of the game with Art Linketter on the box quoted as saying, “I heartily endorse this game!”

I was worried for a second you were talking about John Conway

Nope, he actually died last April.  I knew who he was too, but his game of Life was not as well known as the board game.
