Putting aside that I’m not a fan, what about the singer of ‘WAP’’ qualifies them as a creative director of anything? Further, the tone of the song that made her famous is in stark contrast to virtually everything the magazine has, at least, claimed they stood for.

This is another desperate attempt to to feign relevance. Give up the ghost already.

First, believe the word "creative director" means different things than it used to mean.
next, I can walk you through the logic path of making this position for cardi b,
she was a stripper when she was young, so could be steps to get the point of view from a female that was in the "business"
pb making a common move now of including more people of color,
Cardi b is moving to do work in the production and executive producer side of the entertainment business, as a whole.
While not excited nor dismayed,
I do scratch my head with this move,

Other than publicity stunt do not see the logic of that move.

Guess the world is a different place now,
playboy is just hanging on to whatever strings it can for years, and it has been irrelevant for not just years but decades now.
When does playboy make news or come into conversation of relevancy except with these types of moves.

It doesn't surprise me.
Most of the frangrances named after celebrities and labeled with brands that are not usually thought of as a fragrance are made by one company, It wouldn't surprise me that the same exact product has different labels for different brands.

Coty is really a monopoly though, they own most of the fragrance, cosmetic, beauty care, and makeup brands out there.
