Hey all!

I've been doing photography as a hobby for the past 5 years. I mainly take candid pictures with my friends and I am trying to do more professional shots.

Would love some feedback on my portfolio and tips on what we be good steps to increase my visibility/legitimacy.

Thank you!

Hi,

Just a few general comments:

This is a networking site and, as such, I find it annoying when models in a photographer's portfolio are not credited (even if just to say that they are not on MM).

Our brains are drawn to highlights, so edit out the reflective flash from images, e.g., the clown makeup image, which without the flash I would find quite powerful.

Don't photograph up peoples noses, it isn't flattering.

Try not to have repetitive images.

Good Luck,
JT

Even if the models are not on MM, you can list their professional names in the comments field.

My onion is it is a good start.  I like your sense of composition.  You chose good subjects.  Nice work.

The following one, the only thing I will say is that her upper (left) hand catches the foliage of the conifer in the background.  The pose drags my eye there and the 'tree in her hand' keeps my attention there when there is so many more interesting things in the image.  You could consider editing it out.  Or not.  Just a comment.

I credit only those models (makeup artists, hairstylists, etc.) who wish to be credited.

How did you make links from her photos? There are no link tags under them.
