I can't speak from a model's point of view yet because I'm just now starting to launch my modeling career-however, as a professional spokesmodel different people want different things.

If it's your own shoot-you can pretty much do whatever you want.

However, whenever you are representing someone's company or product and it is there shoot or show then each has there own guidelines as to do's and don'ts.  I recommend upon booking find out everything involved from clothing to makeup/hair/nails because sometimes nails and nail color can be a big issue as well.

Also-it was probably nothing against you-they probably just thought the sparkle and shine took the attention away from your hair.

You should be showing up to your shoots with a clean face and let the MUA do his or her job.

If there's no MUA, ask in advance what make-up look is required.  Still, it's probably best to show up with a clean face.

And clean hair.

You're a blank palette; it's not up to you what the shot is supposed to look like.

I agree with all th above comments but want to add:

Glimmer, sparkles, anything that can catch the light is a huge problem, with the flash.

Thats why I always tell my models not to use anything shimmery.  I spend way too much time photoshopping it out.

Shimmer is awesome for stage.  It makes you catch the light when you move.

However, shimmer is not so awesome for photos.  It usually just makes you look greasy/shiny in a bad way.

If you have glitter and shimmer on at a hair shoot, what do you think is going to attract the eyes attention more? The hair or the eye catching shiny glimmery shimmery stuff?

thanks to all those who has left an answer. the hair shoot was the first i ever done, the note they setn said to come with some makeup on, they just didnt say what kind, but they were nice about it, they didnt yell at me or anything. i try to buy a few no shimmer eye shadows just in case i need to do my own & they dont want shimmer. i dunno lol, im like a bug atrated (sorry they need a spell check button here) to light when it comes to shimmer & glittery things. i just had shimmery eye shadow on. and i didnt know there was going to be a MUA there, but i know now to be sure & ask, whenever i get to do another shoot that is.
