I recently purchased an inexpensive short/med-length synthetic wig. I have long, thick hair and I've had difficulty fitting it under the wig smoothly. I have used pantyhose, but my hair still bunches up. Stylists, advice?

Try braiding your hair (cornrows) and then put on a wig cap, then wig.

Try wrapping your hair around your head before you put the wig cap on.
If you have the time, pin curls all around and then a tight wig cap works best (it just takes forever with your kind of hair).

Tight french braids on both sides then wrap the ends of the braids around your head and boby pin them down.

Keeps the hair closer to your head.

I think your best bet would be to do a wig prep which means doing flat pin curls all over your head and securing them w/ 2 bobby pins facing towards the back or your head.  Since your hair is thick and curly make the pin curls larger that way they will lie flatter.  Then you can either use a surgie or a stocking cap over the pin curls.  Attach it to the pin curls at temples and nape.  Then attach wig.  Should go on smoother and flatter.

It's all about tight little pin curles all over the head... LOTS & LOTS of them!

Stuff your hair under a swim cap before you put the wig on. You'll probably have to do some trimming on the swim cap, so you won't have a big bright stripe, but it's a lot easier to fit hair under a swim cap then a wig, and it will provide a nice smooth place for the wig. And...the wig won't wiggle lol

My natural hair is long and thick too. I shoot with wigs all of the time. I either cornrow my hair or wrap it and put on a stocking cap.

braiding your hair first is the best way.
