Beachy "Wet" Hair Look
Hi! I'm doing a swimsuit shoot and am going to do a beachy wet look--both down and wavy/tousled and then slicked back in a tight ponytail or bun. What products are best for achieving the wet look? May 03 07 11:53 am Link Erica Gray wrote: i've done this shoot many a times... honestly... water. May 03 07 11:55 am Link you can use a product like gel or a "glass" product that makes the hair appear really shinny and "wet" looking, also water will to the trick too, you might need to play with it a bit to get the look you want, and if you want the "messy tossled " look dont let the model wash her hair the morning of the shoot, that will help with the texture May 03 07 12:41 pm Link Water is great, but they will dry and run down quick. You could use Glycerin Spray from MAC, it is great for special effect for sweat. Also don't forget to use sun tan and bronzing products. NARS tanning and bronzing products are highly recommented May 03 07 01:01 pm Link I've had success with humectants like Aveda's Brilliant. It's pliable / holds moisture and great for slicked back pony tails. May 03 07 05:14 pm Link Calvy Tran wrote: Don't waste your money on MAC. Go to the drugstore and by a bottle of glycerine for under $3. Apply to wet hair avoiding roots and finger comb through. Have the model flip her head over, finger comb again and flip back. Done. May 03 07 05:27 pm Link There's actually a beach water spray (salt water?) product, I believe from KMS. I may have found it with another line as well. You spray it in, move it around with your hands, and it creates this look as if you had been swimming in the ocean about 30 minutes prior (or longer, if your hair dries slow). I like it. I've only used it twice though. May 03 07 06:17 pm Link EmElle wrote: I use Bumble & Bumble Surf Spary and love it. Good wet or dry. May 03 07 06:40 pm Link bumble and bumble makes a sea salt type spray - so does d:fi. personally the best thing i have found is kusco murphy beach hair. it has glitter and fine pieces of bamboo in it to add texture and shine. May 03 07 07:07 pm Link Diana wrote: I was about to say!! LOL May 03 07 07:57 pm Link glycerin May 03 07 08:04 pm Link surf spray from bumble and bumble, wave spray from frederic fekkai, glycerine and water mix all do the same thing. May 03 07 08:35 pm Link Thanks everyone! The wave sprays really show up great in print? I'm just worried about "over-producting" the hair. Don't want it to look to look too matte/dirty. May 04 07 12:46 am Link Erica Gray wrote: Coke classic May 04 07 02:02 am Link idk.. somehow i wondered over to fordmodels website and i stumbled apon a tutorial about this exact thing. i need to do more work at work and not get so bored. seriously. May 04 07 02:05 am Link John Frieda makes a product called "Beach Blonde". It's obviously best when applied to wet hair. Seperate hair into sections, saturate the hair with the product, and twist the hair around your fingers to give beach "waves". It's GREAT!! And makes your hair smell great, too. May 04 07 02:08 am Link Definatley Glycerine, cheap and effective May 05 07 02:57 am Link definately water. i just got my hair wet for my photos. I'd be afraid the hair would become too sticky and the coke would drip on the clothing etc. May 06 07 07:17 am Link Diana wrote: Just add a can of coke to an empty spray bottle & spray it in the hair.. It gives that perfect texture for beach hair.. seperates beautifully ... you can do it to dry hair or damp hair... try it on yourself before so you get a feel for it... WORKS GREAT! XoX Kimmie May 06 07 09:19 am Link which brands in the drugstores carry Glycerine....Im in desperate need of a bottle! May 06 07 09:46 am Link I've done a lot of beach shoots and I find that water works best. But if I want the hair to have more shine to it I use aloe vera gel and water. May 06 07 11:24 am Link isaac madera wrote: Unless you want to be standing by spraying the hair every 2 seconds, water won't cut it. I second (or third or fourth) the glycerine spray. It works wonders. May 06 07 04:46 pm Link Maycuplover wrote: Thanks Kimmie... I will do just that! May 06 07 04:58 pm Link Maycuplover wrote: Wow. I so want to try this now... May 06 07 05:01 pm Link Diana wrote: No, It get's a little gritty though so make sure you brush through it BEFORE you spray the shit out of it with the coke. Everytime I would bust out with the coke people would think I was nuts but the end result they LOVED... Lemme know how it goes!! May 06 07 10:44 pm Link Maycuplover wrote: Will do! Lemme know how it worked out for you.... I wanna hear feedback!!! XoX Kimmie Oct 28 07 01:51 am Link EmElle wrote: Aquage has one too. Sea Salt Spray. Oct 28 07 07:54 am Link I have a question in regard to the the glycerin and water mixture....how much /what part water to glycerin is used? and i will DEF. have to try out the coke spray! Jun 04 08 12:50 am Link I have done this with a mixture of sea salt, water, and a drop of any kind of smoothing serum. YOu can also fill a water bottle with the actual ocean water and just add a drop of sealant. Jun 04 08 11:25 am Link Diana wrote: I've found this to be the best, cheapest, warmest (for the models comfort) and effective. The look is perfect and you can apply a few droplets of it on the face, throat and shoulders to look wet and it won't dry like water will. It stays wet, shiny and water resistant if it's a beach or pool shoot. Comes out clean with shampoo. Jun 04 08 03:28 pm Link |
