My hair has suffered a lot. It's only dyed, but it had to go through two colour removers in the past (once because I wanted to change drastically the colour of my dye, and a second time because the hairdresser messed up). Needless to say, my hair isn't in the best shape...

I've been using redken products and they helped a lot, but my hair is still dull. It's naturally fine, dry and curly. Is there anything that can be done to make it bouncier, shinier and healthier?

Bed Head's S Factor conditioner works really good.  It's got sunflower seed oil and I used it for a long time because I'm always bleaching my hair.  You can buy it at any Toni and Guy Salon, and it is expensive, but totally worth it.smile

Here is a great tip I have been successful using:

For Dry Hair:
Hair normally has a moisture content of approximately 10%. If your hair’s moisture content drops below this level the key is to increase the hair’s ability of attract and retain moisture. This is accomplished by using moisturizers. Good one have "humectants" that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair. Essential fatty aids (EFA’s) are great moisturizers. One of the best and most cost effective essential fatty acids is safflower oil. It is the kind you can buy to cook with. It is rich in EFA’s. The scalp produces the best EFA’s called sebum. The problems is once the hair grows past the neck line or does not have direct contact with the scalp the scalps natural oils can not be utilized throughout the hair shaft. At this point you can manually replace the lost EFA’s by:

Placing 1 or 2 drops of safflower oil in your palms and rub them together.
There should only be enough to make your hands "shine" in the light.
Carefully take your hair (while dry) and "scrunch" the small amount of oil to the ENDS first and work toward the scalp.
Leave this in your hair.
1-2 drops of safflower oil on dry hair is so small, you won’t notice it is there. By doing the above as often as necessary, will ensure your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to attract and retain moisture. The key is a small amount will go a long way.

I often use Aloxxi Emergencee Polymeric Reconstructor by Nexxus before and after coloring.

ALSO, if you tan...in a bed or naturally...wrap your hair from the sun and use suncreen haircare products.

Would you still only use 1-2 drops if your hair is very thick and long? How often do you apply it?

I would start there at 1-2 drops and go up the hair toward the scalp if needing more.  The driest hair is obviously at the tips.

Having a pro TRIM your hair every 4 weeks helps IMMENSELY.

I'd use it at least 2x a week until your hair starts improving.  If you color, tease, dry, style, use a ton of product and suntan often, the more you will need.

Aussie shampoo & conditioner range; I've bleached my hair over 6 times in the past year; and imbetween colouring my hair (blues, greens and reds) i dyed it black. Using them actually in my opinion made my hair better than before.
My hair is soft, thicker, shines (without looking greasy) and I feel it made a great difference.

Phillip Kingsley's 'elasticizer' is amazing, it's natural too without any chemicals or perfume..it's amazing for giving your hair it's elasticity, bounce and health back..I use it lots because I dye my hair a lot:)

apply it to damp hair BEFORE shampooing, leave it on for aslong as possible, the more damged the hair the longer you should leave it on, from an hour to a whole night..

Their 3 minutes miracle is fantastic.  I, as well, have had my over-bleaching/over-dying issues, and that stuff makes a huge difference.

LOL! Nasty ass pubic hair! too funny! Would you suggest just using the carrot oil all over  or solely on the damaged parts?

The best line of products I have ever used for damaged hair is Aveda. Aveda has quite a few products that can be used. Here are some:

Damage Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner
Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment Conditioner (the best!)
Sap Moss Nourishing Concentrate
Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer

Also, if you know of Aveda concept salon near you, you can get the Damage Remedy Hair and Scalp Renewal treatment.

To find locations for Aveda concept salons or to read more about the products, check out   http://www.aveda.com/

Hope this information helps! Seriously...it all works!

The BEST product for Damaged Hair is "EMERGENCIA"
(which stands for Emergency- In spanish).
This is a very famous product from the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. which works amazingly!

My mother is a cosmetologist/hairstylist and she uses it on all of her new clients to restore the health of the hair. Including ME smile

https://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/absolut_beauty02/TA20112233A.jpg

I looked it up online, and was able to find it very cheap at this site:
http://www.ibeautyny.com/goods_detail.asp?goodsIdx=2594

Product info:
EMERGENCIA will restore shine and health to hair that has been damaged by chemical
processes such as hair coloring and/or hair straightners. Formulated with carefully
selected vitamins, proteins and mineral oils to assure maximum results.

DIRECTIONS:
After shampooing, massage EMERGENCIA into hair and leave for 3 to 4 minutes. Comb
hair and proceed to rinse hair with cold water.

Try it!.... and thank me later smile

I agree with this; the Aussie Moist range is incredible. I've got naturally very dry hair and I use the 3 minute miracle once or twice a month just to boost my hair with moisture. It definitely works.

I dunno...I think the only thing to help your hair would be to stop dying it, throw out  the hair dryer if you have one, leave-in conditioner, and don't brush it when its wet...it breaks the cuticle and gives you split ends and dull hair....yup! wink

Find a salon that does the L'Oreal Serie Expert powerdose treatments. The Intense Repair and the Absolute have saved my hair many of times. Make sure you get the at home shampoo and conditioners to revitalize and increase longevity to the treatment.

If you like Ojon, try Oscar Blandi.

my best recommendation is Oscar Blandi protein treatment. Use is it in the shower and use a shower cap to seal in heat for 3-15 mins. Rinse with cold water. Follow-up with the jasmine oil. you'll love it and it smells nice.

I haven't tried the other oils recommended here, but I swear by Jojoba oil. This was a trick that a good hair dresser told me and it really works, it's a great moisturizer. I like to use it on my hair and also good for the skin. You can buy it in any heath food store.

I went from dyed red to platinum blonde and they recommended I use one of those packets at Sally's and instead of leaving it on for 5 minutes, I was told to leave it on for 30 minutes with a bag on my head (no heat).  It worked well.  The next time I bleached it I went to a different salon and they did the treatment for me (sometimes its better just to find a salon that is more focused on you - it was an Aveda salon that didn't take care of my hair and a small local salon that put in the extra effort)
