Products for damaged hair
My hair has suffered a lot. It's only dyed, but it had to go through two colour removers in the past (once because I wanted to change drastically the colour of my dye, and a second time because the hairdresser messed up). Needless to say, my hair isn't in the best shape... I've been using redken products and they helped a lot, but my hair is still dull. It's naturally fine, dry and curly. Is there anything that can be done to make it bouncier, shinier and healthier? May 22 07 12:00 am Link Bed Head's S Factor conditioner works really good. It's got sunflower seed oil and I used it for a long time because I'm always bleaching my hair. You can buy it at any Toni and Guy Salon, and it is expensive, but totally worth it. May 22 07 12:04 am Link Here is a great tip I have been successful using: For Dry Hair: Hair normally has a moisture content of approximately 10%. If your hairâs moisture content drops below this level the key is to increase the hairâs ability of attract and retain moisture. This is accomplished by using moisturizers. Good one have "humectants" that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair. Essential fatty aids (EFAâs) are great moisturizers. One of the best and most cost effective essential fatty acids is safflower oil. It is the kind you can buy to cook with. It is rich in EFAâs. The scalp produces the best EFAâs called sebum. The problems is once the hair grows past the neck line or does not have direct contact with the scalp the scalps natural oils can not be utilized throughout the hair shaft. At this point you can manually replace the lost EFAâs by: Placing 1 or 2 drops of safflower oil in your palms and rub them together. There should only be enough to make your hands "shine" in the light. Carefully take your hair (while dry) and "scrunch" the small amount of oil to the ENDS first and work toward the scalp. Leave this in your hair. 1-2 drops of safflower oil on dry hair is so small, you wonât notice it is there. By doing the above as often as necessary, will ensure your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to attract and retain moisture. The key is a small amount will go a long way. I often use Aloxxi Emergencee Polymeric Reconstructor by Nexxus before and after coloring. ALSO, if you tan...in a bed or naturally...wrap your hair from the sun and use suncreen haircare products. How often do you apply it? May 22 07 12:25 am Link I would start there at 1-2 drops and go up the hair toward the scalp if needing more. The driest hair is obviously at the tips. Having a pro TRIM your hair every 4 weeks helps IMMENSELY. I'd use it at least 2x a week until your hair starts improving. If you color, tease, dry, style, use a ton of product and suntan often, the more you will need. May 30 07 09:25 am Link I went from dyed red to platinum blonde and they recommended I use one of those packets at Sally's and instead of leaving it on for 5 minutes, I was told to leave it on for 30 minutes with a bag on my head (no heat). It worked well. The next time I bleached it I went to a different salon and they did the treatment for me (sometimes its better just to find a salon that is more focused on you - it was an Aveda salon that didn't take care of my hair and a small local salon that put in the extra effort) May 30 07 09:59 am Link Charissa the Artist wrote: Ojon is amazing expensive but amazing- i bought the style and shine cream wel worth the $30 and they give 2X as much as other brands.
