I'm doing a shoot at a beach and am seeking advice on easy hair ideas . I plan on doing  close to natural make-up, nothing heavy because in texas it will just run off!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Before the shoot:
Moisten hair (can add a bit of mousse), braid in sections or double french braid (single works, too).
Allow to completely dry.

At the shoot:
Unbraid everything, shake out.
Add more mousse (add plenty to the ends) and scrunch.

Voila!  Textured, controlled mess, sexy hair!

For myself, I don't use a lot of mousse:

Yeah, consider wind, salt water spray, sand and other elements that will mix in with your 'do and decide if you want mother nature's special brand of "help" or not.  I would not waste time on curling hair unless the hair being curled has a history of holding curl REALLY well (you definitely do not want to rely on hairspray in wind).  So then, wetting the hair, braids, ponytails, or sea salt spray to scrunch curl in are all options.

I second this, except for the mass amounts of mousse.  It could end up looking a little stiff, depending on the mousse, and depending on the models hair.  Try bumble and bumble sea spray after you shake out the braids, as it gives that whole beachy, tousled, textured look, but without the stiffness that mousse often gives.  Also, don't braid the braids too tight, or they'll end up kinking weird near the scalp.

Another thing that could work, again with a little sea spray, and a little pommade on the ends, take the hair and twist it in to a loose bun or knot low on the back of the head, pull out a few pieces near the face, and a few of the ends of the do, so that it's a little messy, and just pin with a few bobby pins.

good luck.

i concur on a large braid(s), pony tail, updo's etc... the wind and sand are huge hurdles to work with... mousse can be a bit sticky if not dried properly..and the sand can get imbeded...ick
