Has anyone tried the Tasmerah makeup cases? (http://www.tasmerah.com/makeup_cases.htm)

I'm looking for a makeup box that I can work Straight out of (not have to set anything up for the most part) - I'm sick of my suitcase and pulling everything out... so I was just wondering if anyone had tried that makeup case, and could tell me the pros and cons of it.

Thanks!
Liz

Hey there,

I wanted the one on wheels and I planned on getting it at this years Makeup Show in NYC.  It turns out Alcone is no longer carrying it due to it not being a sturdy one  sad Too many problems with it I guess. I was so bummed out!!!  They still had the smaller case with the shoulder strap, so maybe that one is ok?  Perhaps try calling Alcone NYC?

Hope this helps!! smile

I have two of thos smaller ones with the shoulder straps...i love having two weighted cases as opposed to one HUGE heavy one.  What I also have is a portable fold up trolly pull that I use when I'm tired of lugging them on my shoulders.  Very handy.

It looks a lot like what I use already and I still have to take everything out as I use it. I saw on a mua's page "pro mess maker" and thought it was perfect. So, I say just plan on making a mess and taking everything out.   smile   It is a pretty cool case though!

CantoniIf you only have a lot of small items, you still have to take a lot out, but else it work great, used it on location several times and almost no need for a table smile

I think if you are going to go with a box you can work out of, it's best go go high quality and smaller. That way you can adjust your kit based on the job. I have seen some beautiful smaller boxes like this. But to be honest, to me they just didn't seem practical (for me anways). I had a beautiful expensive Japonesque train case, and it just didn't work out- it was like plaing tetris getting all of my things in the different compartments "just right" and I had to put it away the same way EVERYTIME, because it was so compacted.

After wanted to kill my traincase or anything aluminum, after much help from a past thread where generous artist gave us a peek into their kits, here's my solution.
I also do hair so it's impossible to not unload but here's my attempt make it easier on myself.
I use a combo of a suitcase (featherweight I got at Ross for about 40.00) and a makeup box which fits nicely in the suitcase.  Here's the link but I actually got it at cimema secrets for less.
http://www.naimies.com/shopping/Product … =517&cas=0
I have most of my makeup in the box which fits nicely in a suitcase. It weighs very little but it's sturdy enough. The way it opens I always have a place to put my brush roll. All I have to take out is my palletes and I can see the rest of my makeup.
I use clear bags for my loose lip stuff, one for skincare, one for toiletries, etc.
Set up and break down is faster. It all survived a recent trip for a catalog shoot. Whoo hoo!
It's not perfection. But it's the first time in a long time, me and my lower back are please with my kit.

You might want to ask AlwaysMadeUp.  When she came over she had this awesome bag.  But I forgot where she got it.  I think it was Makeup Forever, but dont quote me on that.

Hi hi, I know this thread is old, but I thought I would comment anyway ... as I have struggled to find my perfect case for the longest time.

I loooove the big Tasmerah bag, it's perfect for me. http://www.tasmerah.com/makeup_cases.htm

I have labelled all compartments with different "ingredients" (foundation, powder, blush, lipliner/eyeliner, lashes, camouflage/concealer etc) and feel that my little German brain (we tend to be really organised by nature) functions really well this way. There are 5 extra pockets plus a tissue pocket. My shadow pallets go on top along with all my disposable items and Qs). I have had many stylists/clients comment positively on my kit all the time (hope they liked my work just as much as my kit smile ).

Downside ... the wheels are too close together, hence when pulling it behind you it easily tips over.

So, yeah, absolutely recommend it if you can deal with the wobbly wheels.

Hi this bag looks very similar to one I got at Nigels in L.A. from Monda Studios.  http://www.mondastudio.com/small-multif … 473b34b4e1 They will give you a big discount if you are a professional MUA.  I actually use the smaller case more often and I put it on a office trolley I bought at staples or office depot.  I also put my set bag on top and strap it down.  It helps if you buy some stronger bungi cords to strap everything down more securely.  I love my little case but I am probably going to purchase a zuca pro suitcase bc the wheels on it are even more menuverable (sp?) and I can pack more in it.  This is the little case that is part of the system. http://www.mondastudio.com/small-makeup … 473b34b4e1
The 3rd piece is the largest and has wheels.  I didn't buy that piece bc I didn't think I needed to carry around that much makeup. http://www.mondastudio.com/multifunctio … 473b34b4e1  These cases are fairly light and less expensive than the other brand.

The bag that you got it really look like fishing bag you can get from fishing shop or online less than half price and stronger. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/store … rchResults

Before I bought my Zuca bag. I went to the shop in my area to see in person. I decided buy the sport one because the size is not much different at all. The case inside you can buy from wall mart cheaper and you can choose you size that you want. The last thing that I really don't like about pro zuca is aluminum frame. It just doesn't look so good in person compare to the black sport aluminum frame.

I don't know about everyone but this is just my opinion. smile

Tai.

A MUA i was working with once had one of those - she was having trouble trying to keep it upright as we were walking along. The wheels arent far enough apart for good balance. It was very "tippy"

I've said it a thousand times haha...best $24.99 I've ever spent - I work right out of my cases from Home Depot. All my expensive makeup cases are at home storing excess makeup and accumulating dust. I use 4, but many times I've consolidated to 1 or 2 cases. I just like to bring everything.

I have that one...it looks great but it fell apart after about 6-7 shoots. The walls on the 'shelves' started to come off.

These look great Jordan. I like that your makeup looks organized with all of the dividers. How do you carry these cases all together... do you place them on a luggage trolley?

They have straps. I can carry all four short distances, and I consolidate if I need to go long distances.

I have a case like the one Jordan has pictured. I use only one though. At 5'5" I can't handle more cases lol. Plus I carry a chair and a zuca backpack for my hair kit. I got mine from Canadian tire at it was $55 CAD but I love it and get comments all the time. One of my clients said it looked like an assassin's case... Just call me 00lips lol

Would a regular school backpack work for carrying hair equipment?

Jordan - every time I see your 4 case I think of you as a make up secret agent! O.o

I'm def gonna pick up one of those cases from Home Depot and see how I like it, but I know I couldn't carry 4! Right now I'm just using a small bag with zippers but I want something with wheels and I'm going to have to start carrying hair stuff soon too.

I had a MUCH larger rolling make up kit but it just wasn't practical for going up stairs, in fact, it sucked.
https://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs394.snc3/24006_10150139888945307_608320306_11247218_7492493_n.jpg
Now it did have HUGE wheels and was great if I was outdoors plus I could sit ppl on the top of it if there were no chairs, but other than that, not so much

Sometimes I read these threads and think I'm crazy for the amount of make-up I carry. I think I would shock you all.

I just got my Zuca backpack! Yesterday!
It's the bomb.

I sold my regular Zuca for it cause it just sat in a corner and collected dust.
I'm anti rolling case. Nyc subway stairs/photog living in a walk up+Zuca=miserable times.

Did I mention that I carry all of my make-up and hairstyling stuff in the backpack?
And I have room for my camera, phone, wallet, a snack and a bottle of water.

I hate excess soooo much.
Even with the condensation I still don't use half of the crap that I bring.

I looked everywhere for these, sadly, I don't think Home Depot carries them any more.  I also searched internet, and other hardware/home improvement centers. This is an old thread.....
