I have a pending shoot coming up in late February/early march back in northern California where I need to do a frost and snow look on several models (three females and two males of different ethnicities). I plan to try a few things out this evening on myself, which my fiance is going to shoot tonight.

Right now, I'm toying with corn starch and coconut shavings, as well as several frosty looking shimmer and glitter pigments. I also have fake snow, but don't feel comfortable using this on the face. It will be sprinkled in the hair and on the shoulders though.

For the shoot near the end of the winter, I want to incorporate my airbrush and possibly a sea sponge to create a light crackled look on the skin on a few of the models, but I am not testing that out yet. Half of my equipment is still sitting 3k miles away. sad  At least it will already be there when the shoot comes around. hmm

I'm interested in hearing what materials or techniques other makeup artists incorporate to create frost and snow makeup effects. Is there anything you absolutely love? ... or find doesn't work well? Thoughts and inspirations welcome.

Oh... and Happy New Year, too!

Cool stuff. I've seen this before on Silver Rain Studio's site, but haven't yet tried it out. Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely have give this a try. smile

Anyone try anything else with success?
