Suitcases
I have noticed a lot more MUAs and Hair Stylists using suitcases instead of train cases... Opinions? I think its great because they are much easier to lug around and clean up is a cinch. May 17 06 07:43 pm Link I use a suitcase! I find it quite handy, I just organize all my makeup in separate cases and pack it all in. No specific organization. I was actually considering to go back to the train case too. I used to have one but I guess I had cheap ones because they always broke. May 17 06 08:26 pm Link I use a huge train case a med sized one and a very small one, really depends what the job requires. I too have a "carry on size" suitcase for all of my hair stuff, I created little "trays" that stack and come out esily. I like things to be very organized and everything is labled with my name People seem to steal from me often oh well that means i get to go shopping I like the differnt sizes of train caese becasue some times you need more stuff and some times you dont. I think that as long as you are organized and you dont just have stuff all over it dosent matter what you use as a case. I recently worked on a fashion show and one of the other make-up artists had a nasty duffl bag whith stuff all of ther place, so she looked less professional becasue of this fact. I was rehired by the client and noticed that she was not rehired for the next fashion show. So yah be organized , you could show up with a wheel berrle and as long as your clean and orginized it doent matter what you carry your make-up in Mandy Of Deadly Design Make-up Artistry May 17 06 09:39 pm Link I use a wheeled suitcase with everything in clear plastic (vinyl) bags. Shadows are in pallettes except for loose pigment. Hair kit is in a gigantic duffel bag and that holds my set bag as well. I'm about to get a wheeled bag for the hair kit though since it weighs about as much as I do..lol. Most of the artists I know use variations on the same suitcase/bag set. Mary May 17 06 09:52 pm Link Best suitcase ever.... Samsonite Spinner. You can throw your box on top, even has a place to use as a cup holder (coffee), it turns in every direction and you can roll it upright next to you, rather than pulling. I can use just one finger on any flooring but carpet. I have to tilt and pull when I hit carpet, because I forgot how heavy it is. That italian designer I work with was going to Italy, she borrowed my set and wouldn't give them back to me! I really had to go and buy myself a new set. It's perfect if you live in places you walk a lot in or do a lot of international travel like her and I do. I think this would be perfect for makeup artists who need to lug around more than a heavy box May 17 06 09:58 pm Link In addition to being handy, suitcases are a lot better on your back, too. I learned that after one fun day on the raggedy sidewalks of NY during a rain/wind storm, with my rolling makeup case. May 18 06 04:56 pm Link I dunno guys....I have a torrid love affair with my traincase...or maybe we are just very comfortable with eachother. I used to have a suitcase but nothing seemed to stay in place. Dividers rule my world. Charissa Houston,Tx May 18 06 05:23 pm Link i don't go anywhere without my 'kit' *it's a tackle box. there are MANY different types, and they're so handy for organization freaks like me. May 18 06 09:39 pm Link The last few shoots I have been on, the makeup artists have had huge tool boxes - like for mechanics. Apparently, you can get them on wheels and they have the same organizational perks. One makeup artist boasted that she even had a photographer drop her toolbox down a flight of stairs, and nothing was harmed... Seemed like a good idea to me! May 18 06 09:46 pm Link I'm converting to a wheely suitcase soon. I have a traincase on wheels and I find that my makeup bounces around too much. So, I've bought lots of soft pouches to pack my makeup away in, and a labeller! I love it so much...haha I'm going to label everything. xo. May 19 06 02:16 am Link I have a huge Da Kine wheelie bag and all my products in clear plastic cases. Many years ago I had a traincase but found that I still needed additional bags for hair kit etc.. I also found that I could almost kneecap people on the tube. Carrying one of those things also contributes to a bad back. I love my wheelie case. x May 19 06 03:37 am Link Its funny that I just happen to bump into this forum because I JUST changed my train case to a suitcase. I just bought some Zip Lock bags with the zipper seal and just put everything in there. OMG its so much easier and lighter and its just so great. I'm a neat freak to I put everything by category like foundations in one baggy, blushes in one, shadows in one, effects (such as bronzers and shiners) in another baggy and so on. I love it and I wish I would have done it sooner. Me and my suitcase will be in love and together for quite some time =P May 19 06 03:23 pm Link Yisell wrote: That's exactly what I'm doing! Halfway done now, actually. I am already in love...everything is so neat and easy to access. May 19 06 05:50 pm Link |
