Basic Wardrobe
I saw this post https://www.modelmayhem.com/posts.php?thread_id=21501 So what should every female model own in her wardrobe for shoots/modeling? for commericial and fashion Dec 31 05 11:26 am Link I have always had an addiction to buying clothes and shoes, so I probably have more than most people. It depends on what look you're going for. Glamour, lingerie, commericial, swimsuit are all obviously going to require different things. The thing that is really important is accessories and shoes. Both can make virtually the same outfits look completely different. If you want to be more specific, I could probably be more help. Yesterday, for instance I wore a scarf as a dress. I think I bought it for $4.99. You have to learn to be creative! Dec 31 05 11:40 am Link Yeah , in my port I have a black top with a blue "skirt" which is a scarf Dec 31 05 11:48 am Link Nude thong, nude strapless bra. Two things I never believe models don't just have by default. Most Brazilian models have these great nude thongs with clear plastic sides, very discreet, leave it to the Brazilians. I have a stock of them now since only certain agencies in NY prep models well enough to have them wear or bring them. Also panty liners are a good idea to have with you at all times. Dec 31 05 11:51 am Link Also, the Nu-Bra, it is a self adhesive, silicone bra. completely backless and strapless. i use it all the time. i bought mine at Victoria's Secret Dec 31 05 11:57 am Link often beginning stylists will have a harder time getting shoes than anything else, so stock up on many different styles. They are the hardest for a stylist to get their hands on or we charge just for that. Shoe designers are not fond of letting photographers use their shoes for they are rarely seen and rarely seen in a good light. Simple white, black, and nude underthings. A simple black sexy dress. Depends on the type of modeling you are doing. If you are a commercial model then you need certain things, fashion then the shoes are very important for a stylist may have a hard time tracking down your size and something usable for only a test, Glamour, goth, and nude models need other things or not much at all. A fashion model may rarely need a bathing suit while a nude model may not need other things. Dec 31 05 01:33 pm Link Ok, I put together a list that I will add to my model shoot suggestions on my website. Please let me know before I put this up if anyone has other ideas I forgot to mention here. ............................................................................................. What clothing should models bring to a commercial photo shoot? Good commercial models have invested in a commercial wardrobe. Many times models are requested to bring wardrobe to the shoot, especially true of stock shoots. I have made a list of wardrobe items most stylists would like to see you bring. Women One business suit a little black dress a few skits (not too short) current style best scarves and accessories (cheap costume is fine the more the better, a ring to look like a wedding ring often comes in handy) nice black slacks and tan pants 5 or 6 tops (no crazy colors or prints and no logos...colors are fine, no black) turtle neck jeans (no holes, not too warn looking) black and tan low heel shoes tennis shoes without prominent logos (obvious branding) black high heals (not too stripper looking) sandals shorts (not too short) ball cap no logo strapless bra nude nude under garnets tube top socks one piece bathing suit and a 2 piece if you have the figure for it jean jacket blazer, current style Men Nice suit, not a cheap suit, this is a good investment in your career Jean (not too warn looking) Black shoes Tan shoes Tennis shoes (no obvious branding) Socks, black, tan, white Dress shirts for suits (4 or 5 in different colors) 2 or 3 ties to coordinate with shirts Polo style shirts (3 or 4 in different colors) Dockers type pants in Navy and kaki Belts (dress and casual) Bathing trunks Shorts (in current style) T shirts (white, black, a few colors) Dress slacks dark and light (no white) Turtle neck Pull over sweaters in a few colors My biggest pet peeves are worn looking clothing...take clothes to the dry cleaner to avoid fading and wrinkled clothing....I like to see models arrive with clothing on hangers in a garment bag...I hate seeing wardrobe wadded up in duffle bags. Obvious branding should be avoided on all clothing...if you can recognize a brand we probably can not use it on the shoot. Small logos on Polos normally will not show up but anything larger may.
