A few weeks ago, I rented a set of Pocket Wizards to be hooked up to a 550ex and 580EXII flash so I could get my light off camera.

I wanted to meter using my Sekonic (I forget the model number, but it's an older model, cinema/photo with view finder, etc.)

When I hit the trigger on the Sekonic, (hard wired to the Pocket Wizard), It did not trip the flash?

Any ideas why?

Thanks.

Without the model number it's hard to be specific. I also seem to recall that the cine versions are more for video than still.
When I was using wired strobes, I'd connect the PC cable to the Sekonic and select the wired strobe mode. I believe it was a "C" for corded. Hit the trigger and the strobes pop. The Sekonic 358 also indicated the %of flash to ambient.
It worked fine, it was just a royal PITA.

dunno-- did you attach the cord from the meter to the flash? Were they both on? Works every time for me-- nothing special needed.

Assuming you've checked all the obvious: all batteries, all connections, same radio channel, settings- transmit/receive and so on, then you have to go along the chain to figure out the problem. Is your sekonic functional? Have you tried use your camera in place of sekonic in the same set up? Did it work? If it did sthe sekonic is a problem, if not that is another story. Is PW transmitter working? Can you trip the flash from it alone? Fashes?  And so on piece by piece.
Good luck
