For photography equipments, it is very rare to have student discount. But for computers:

Apple computer offer discount both in their online store & Apple store with laptop, iMac , iPods & softwares. It save you a lot of money if you thinking of upgrading your computer.

Its Mamiya and a bunch of other top end companies that offer HUGE student discounts!  If you are going for profoto, tenba, pocketwizards, X-rite, Leaf, Mamiya... everything is way discounted, profoto gear is nearly half off!!

This is for students who would like to own professional cameras and lighting systems. You must prove current status as a student, and you could be looking at about 50% saving.

At: mac-on-campus.com

The Pro's had to start somewhere........

Hi guys. Just want to tell you those mac-on-campus discounts are all fake. They waren't truly discounts. You'd probably be better off just buying them off of BH or something. If they are discounted, its only by a little bit. Not the 50% off as someone advertised. They list their list price way too high on the site to make you believe you're getting a huge discount. Hope this helps!

(time out)

a curiosity...the self portrait on your profile clearly has you shooting a digi canon in the mirror, but the image seems to have film edge nomenclature...

you trying to pull a fast one?

ok..back to the topic...

Calumet (via eSP)
Dyna-Lite (via their educational program)
Hensel (via their student program)
Photogenic (via their educational program)
Profoto (via MAC on Campus)
Speedotron (via their Educational Purchase Program).

There's others, but these are the ones I know about.

I agree they're not as discounted as full list price indicates, but a typical Profoto savings is still over 30% over B&H pricing (e.g. Acute 2R 2400 kit: $6996 list, $4153 B&H, $2998 Academic--savings of $1155).

How do you get the student discount on adobe software?

And do you have to be a design/photography/art/web development student?

Depends on the university. Here we can just walk into the bookstore, show proof that we're student, staff, or faculty, and pay. Good prices (CS3 Design Premium $599, Standard $399, Photoshop CS3 Extended $299) but I'm pretty sure the student license is restricted to personal usage (and obviously not for resale or redistribution). Other universities go through a student licensing program that drops the price even further.

And no - Adobe doesn't care what your field of study is.

Dang, I wish I knew about the Mac On Campus site before I bought 4 x PWII's from B&H.

I spent $189 each = $756

Off MOC I could have got them for around $616.

argh!

oh damn! that mac on campus looks GREAT!!!

true that the list price they have is extremely high but comparing their student prices to the prices of BH, clearly Mac on campus would get my sale. interesting.......good to know for the future!

for example a mamiya 645zd package you save 1000 dollars over BH

I saw that too! Though, I think I will get a more versatile camera such as the 1Ds instead at some point.

That's not true. Most of the well known lighting equipment and most of the camera companies offer student discount via MAC. I have the MAC program but haven't used it yet.

Yes you have to register. You might be able to do it online or checkout your local campus that have the information displayed in or near the photography issue rooms. The prices are like night and day.

MAC never state in their info. that their discounts are 50% nor is it fake. Discounts don't equate to 50%. 10 percent is legally a discount. That's misinformation on your part. all information is accurate according to what the companies publish yearly. It's against the law to fish and bait. MAC isn't fish or baiting the student.
