Says who?? You? Why? Because you can't get the hang of it? Figures.. but since you can't grasp selective coloring, how about taking a few classes on curve adjustment and or color balancing.. Brought to you by: please STFU..

I generally dislike selective desaturization (i.e. removing all but one color from a color photo). I generally like selective tinting (i.e. adding color to areas of a black and white photo).

I'm not a fan, but people are amazed by it. They think it is the best thing since sliced bread. If you don't want to be paid by wedding and portrait clients, then don't use it. If you want cash, then use it. Simple!

It's low-end, it's cheesy, it's amateur and best left to the creative director to employ as form of photo-mutilation...uh I mean article illustration.

For every thing you name that *you* think sucks, I guarantee we can go through your work (or anyone else's) and pick things that are overdone, boring, lousy, etc. If you don't like it, fine. Telling other people how to manage their creativity is weak sauce.

Weddings for instance. I take my work seriously. I have a style. People pay me for my style. They know this up front. I don't want someone to look through one of the albums I did and see selective coloring and assume thats what i do. If a bride wants selective coloring, I tell them we should not work together.
