Kino Flo Lighting Choices
I am interested in adding some Kino Flo Flourescent or LED lights (or alternative brands) to my tools. I want a set that is portable for location shooting, as well as good for digital stills and video. Anyone able to give me some direction and/or recommendations? There seem to be alot of choices... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. John Jun 24 08 11:55 pm Link kino's and lite panels give out different color temperatures. I've used the lite panels before and they are nice. Strobes put out more power, which is crucial if you shoot outdoors. Jun 25 08 03:51 am Link damn dude.. you must have some cash because kinos are bank, but I have heard they work well. ant Jun 25 08 03:52 am Link I have used large Kino banks on numerous TV documentaries but only on large sound stages & not outdoors.. the light quality is very good... WB is around 2900k - 3100k as a rule... I would probably not use them on location due to power requirements & bulky ballasts etc... strobes ust make more sense.. thats why I carry my profoto gear Jun 25 08 04:11 am Link The benefit for me it only taking one set of lights to a location where I can shoot both stills and video... otherwise I have to bring strobes and hotlights. I see Kino Flo have some smaller units and kits that might work. Jun 25 08 06:35 pm Link try these they are much cheaper and as effective as the kinos. http://www.coollights.biz/softlight-ser … 25_31.html tell them I sent you Stephen Eastwood http://www.StephenEastwood.com Jun 25 08 06:36 pm Link We have lots of Kino equipment, for locations the sun will win, they do not have the power in any one unit to overpower the sun, they are FANTASTIC lights, we have our Green Cyc pre-lit with about 100 bulbs but at daylight since most people coming in to shoot use HMI lights. Kino's are mainly for indoor use. The small DIVA lights will not work outside unless it is night time. Jun 25 08 06:40 pm Link Stephen thanks for the info... most of my location work are inside locations... so these types of lights may work fine... Thanks for the help! Jun 25 08 06:45 pm Link I swear I thought this thread started with Kung Fu lighting and had to do a double take to make sure. Had to share the inner workings of a very tired mind heh heh Jun 25 08 06:47 pm Link StephenEastwood wrote: Thanks Mr. Eastman, great find, I was look for a less expensive alternative Jun 25 08 06:50 pm Link You can get Kinos in a ton of configurations. 2" or 4' banks w/ 2, or 4 lamps. Wall Of Lite, Image 80's, MiniFlos etc. Do a search for theire website and you'll probably get all the info you can stand... Jun 25 08 07:03 pm Link MuseLight Photography wrote: I see.
